Just signed up for your service today and got OnlyOffice and NextCloud provisioned and working in under 10 minutes. This is after dozens of hours over the last couple weeks attempting to do the setup following guides and install docs online

I would argue that knowing the business and the customers makes you a much better programmer though. I would rather a programmer spend 75% of their time programming and 25% seeking to understand why they are programming instead of 90%+ head

Same here, hire the person, treat them well, and the language doesn’t matter as long as they have experience in similar languages.

I would argue that this isn’t solely the responsibility of the programmer. This is where testing and QA comes in. Also, these are pretty basic considerations when building mobile apps and I would argue that they aren’t language specifics.

At some point the discounts offered to use the platform are too good to pass up. Doesn’t mean the support is good.

The majority of people don’t browse the internet like people on hacker news. They type the domain name into the Google search home page, not the URL bar for the browser. Chances are they are going to type .com at the end. So in my opinion a

I have had pain in my wrists and arms for a years now. After spending tens of thousands of dollars on physical therapy and massages I saw a comment in a post from a couple days ago about keeping your arms warm. I just bought these ( https:&

It is very easy to keep the cat claws trimmed with clippers on a regular basis. Just start playing with their paws frequently. Then you can start clipping once they are fine with you playing with their paws. Even better to start when they a

I switched to BitWarden from LastPass and 1Password and I couldn’t be happier. You can self host if you want but you still have to pay.

I have had great success hiring junior developers and molding them as described above. This turns the interview process into learning about the person and their goals and what drives them instead of what do you already know. Because let’s b

I am very surprised that they allowed you to pay rent up front. This creates a huge liability for them because at least in the United States it becomes almost impossible to evict you.

First, this is awesome. I have always been fascinated by traffic flow and how it works. This assuages my curiosity in so many ways. Second, removing all of the politeness has an interesting effect. I think I can learn some lessons from this

While I am in a management position now I do find myself being pulled back to coding in a regular basis. Mostly because I have been doing this so long I know what needs to be done and other than updating myself on the syntax and names of me

Very interesting concept that I never considered. Shower with salt water and then rinse with regular water. Pay one price for salt, one price for regular water.
