My feeling was that outside of FAANG you would have to move to Zone 3-4 or share a flat. Combined with the hassle for EU citizen nowadays to get a work permit it does not sound so enticing anymore. Though for FAANG London still seems to ha

In the UK apparently there are 3 types. The Economist wrote on the Uber case in UK: “Employees” gain access to the full gamut of employment-law protections; “workers” get some protections but can be dismissed at will; the self-employed are

I have been using Duplicati, but >Backup archives are mountable as userspace filesystems for easy interactive backup examination and restores (e.g. by using a regular file manager). looks like a really nice feature of borg. Thanks.

Regarding Java: Spring Boot is highly opinionated and also allows you to do stuff with very little LoC.

A few weeks ago PornHub removed lots of amateur videos without ID verification to not get blocked by Visa&MC. If your niche does not involve ID-verified videos from the big studios, I guess it would be useful to have backups.

A quite good strategy I've found is moving one bounded context (from domain-driven design) into one microservice. You don't end up with lots of network calls for one use case and still have good maintainability.
