Isnt this the common situation in most of Bay Area for service workers? Im in no way associated to Facebook, but I think its a bit unfair to call them out just to make the headline sensational. They're just another tenant in the Bay Ar

Using gitlab and bitbucket for my personal repos on their free tiers have solved a lot of problems for me. Also, a lot of features are way ahead of github on these 2 platforms including CI/CD, Code reviews, and other tooling.

Sorry for the late reply. - Was a little upset with my previous company over certain things and took the first offer that came my way. And I had to get some immigration stuff done and this company was willing to(Which is really good for me

I'd say in my experience, atleast in the Bay Area unless you are a co-founder, dont bother joining an early stage or that's not as late stage as Airbnb or Uber. The problem is the base salaries are good. But, startups try to be to

The program was not a thing only because long wait times for a green card was not a thing. A lot of companies have a lot of Indians compared to elsewhere. But, majority of them is probably factually wrong.

A lot of foreign born workers are not H1B because they got their green cards or citizenship. I'd safely say a majority of them were H1Bs till recently. Till 2008, getting a green card for any country was not a problem. It has gotten a

Most H1Bs in high density areas are not this way. A lot of companies like Oracle, Google, Facebook etc.. have very few H1Bs even though you see a lot of them. Look at them as a % of all employees. And most H1Bs are highly paid, highly skill

H1b employees in this category with an approved i140 have already expressed an immigration intent. So, they're almost immigrants except on a waitlist.

1. Might not happen in the probably the next decade. Earning 200k+ in Bay Area is common and still hard to live on a single salary. What should an engineer do to make it go to 400k? 2. So, you want experienced, well trained experts in their

This is awesome. My USCIS just not for asylum applications, but everything else. USCIS required 2 factor for login and that's awesome that you take account security for sensitive applications seriously.

The author gets most of the things wrong in this article. Even though H1B is not an immigration intent visa, most H1Bs come with an intention to stay here. If you give them a chance to stay in the United States, they'll happily stay he

H1Bs do not work for minimum wage jobs. Why then is the minimum wage not rising ? If you do not consider the Indian consulting companies, H1B get paid higher or on par with most Americans and most have graduate degrees.

So, what the author of the article gets wrong is how many H1Bs want to be citizens and how hard it is to become one. Currently for anyone who starts their immigration process, it takes anywhere between 7-15 years to get a green card if you
