Google is not going to abandon cloud. I'm not sure anything I say can convince you, but the fact the Spotify, Evernote, Disney, Home Depot, Snapchat, etc all run on GCP says a lot.

All of these platforms offer a free trial and a lot of products have free tiers. I'd check them out and decide for yourself. (I work for Google Cloud and am happy to answer questions about GCP)

The best part of Firebase hosting is the free custom domain support + CDN + SSL cert. HTTP/2 is icing on the cake. Nice job! (Disclosure: I work for Google)

I work for Google Cloud (though my opinions are my own). If people want to run Swarm or Nomad or Rancher on Compute Engine, then more power to them! In fact, I even open sourced deployment templates to run Swarm on GCE and hopefully will ad

Browsers already support HTTP/2. The problem (IIRC) is that there is no way for Javascript to access the HTTP/2 functionality. Once JS engines have access to these functions, then gRPC on the browser will be possible!

Yeah this is one big advantage GCP has over AWS, no need to prewarm load balancers. Not sure how Azure works (I work for Google).

You raise some good points. If App Engine does not work for your project, there is always Container Engine (Which is hosted Kubernetes, so 100% OSS) and Compute Engine (plain old VMs). 2014 App Engine is also different from 2016 App Engine,

Yeah super recent. It was one of my huge pet peeves with Managed VMs, so I'm glad it's fixed.

Cloud Datastore is more like DynamoDB, not S3. Cloud Storage is like S3. Yay names! Custom runtimes are trying to give people the "No Ops" of App Engine with the flexibility of Compute Engine. Like always, there are tradeoffs, but

Disclaimer: I work for Google Cloud > "Google probably has the best networking technology on the planet." How do we quantify this? In the article they did a bunch of tests. Quote: GCP does roughly 7x better for the comparison

I'm almost 100% sure that the Cloud Vision API will also return "cartoon" or "artwork" or something similar. This is because of how the models are trained. What you need is a custom model that is trained specificall

DynamoDB does not directly correlate to Cloud Bigtable, it would be more akin to Cloud Datastore (which I don't think has a minimum and has a free tier)
