I'm also going to hop on this train and move away from react. Personally and professionally, I don't like the direction the big players are taking the internet. (The closed, proprietary model.) I suppose there's not much I ca

First couple months I was the most impatient and impulsive. However, my whole life is an effort in staving off boredom and red traffic lights, so I try and practice mindful meditation every day to stay patient and "still" in my mi

I have a cheap-as-costanza dumb phone with texting which has served me very well. I definitely need a phone! Can't whistle that loudly.

I did – I love it!!!! And a great suggestion. I already have three pocket-sized notebooks filled up already with tons of art and ideas from my fountain pen! (Love that pen. Now I write in a crude Spencerian script for extra fun points.)

100% – I think this is a shortsighted move predicated by fear and it will backfire (hopefully). Google probably wants/expects to remain dominate forever, and that's very hard to do in this space without becoming a problem yourself

AMP is pretty much mandatory. If you don't do it you're "left behind."

I agree, too. I have the feeling Google is trying to protect the Internet but that this is a heavy-handed approach that actually makes developing on the open web less attractive. I don't see a lot of praise for AMP, and I'm not su

I kind of like having a selection to choose from, like restaurants. I even still like the older, less-polished ones from time-to-time. (As long as the food checks out, which is pretty easy to handle.) Same with online retailing – I like the

Same for me. I really don't like breakfast foods, and it's very difficult to grab a burger in the morning. Every place seems to serve the same boring morning breakfast until 10:30am. (And McD's breakfast seems overpriced for

A pattern I notice on this site, and reddit: that it's far easier to ask left-and-right for evidence than it is producing your own or going on a limb to make a point in your own words. Is open discussion discouraged on HN? Now, I don&#

You bet, the system as it is needs real reform! My previous post uses the word "kinks" and I don't mean to minimize the problem we have today. Old capitalist thinking seems out of date, and this does feel like late-stage.
