Maybe it’s not a binary? Maybe managers should both be able to delegate AND occasionally put in the effort to learn how things are working on the ground? Otherwise after about 3 layers of hierarchy all of the signal is gone in a massive gam

They were conned because there’s been a massive top down propaganda campaign at the highest levels of corporate America that GAI is right around the corner.

Currently in fashion isn’t exactly a confidence booster heading into multiple rate hikes and a pressure on hyperscalers to cut capex.

Well that’s great to hear that they are saying a non-GAAP profit metric is greater than zero. I agree it’s less of a dumpster fire than OAI but that’s not a very hard bar to clear.

Human mathematicians could become “priests to oracles.” This is a decidedly anti-enlightenment statement.

So… more peer review backlog. That sounds fun. Oh, you want someone to review your paper, Mr phd in mathematics with 20 years of experience? Get in line behind chatGPT.

Tests only work for a limited set of programming verification. In many cases you don’t actually know what the output for any given input should be, so there’s no way of verifying the AI-generated code. You just kind of have to trust it. The

It’s a well known problem in higher mathematics that even if you’ve solved a problem, often the proofs are incredibly long and complex and require an extensive amount of time spent by peers to review it. It would be great if someone could e

I think a lot of it is actually the tech for a lot of reasons: 0. No one wants a datacenter in their backyard or hooked up to the grid while the electricity burden is carried by households. People are afraid of losing their property values

I didn’t make a claim. The parent explicitly said it was a misconception that inference is not profitable. No one knows if it’s profitable or not so we’re left to speculate.

You said: “ There is zero evidence of any causal link between him and this. The obvious one, instead, is SpaceX's volatility.” What exactly do you think “volatility” means in this context?

How do you explain OAI spending $6B on “sales and marketing” in a year. More than Coca Cola? I think it’s reasonable to draw the conclusion that they are folding inference subsidies (for both paying and non-paying users) under this category

SpaceX demonstrated that the public markets have a limited tolerance for a multi-trillion dollar company that doesn’t make any money. Ed’s leaks demonstrated that OAI doesn’t make money (even on inference). Put these two together and I thin

OAI canceling an IPO this year a week after he released their dogshit financials is not a coincidence and yes it does vindicate him. He’s not shorting the market or calling a top. He’s saying that the bubble will pop because the underlying

I’m pretty sure the people who are keeping thousands of kids under 10 in maximum security prisons where they are raped by dogs are the good guys here. You’re right! Also bombing Gaza into oblivion is clearly not terorism either

No one cares how smart Israel thinks they are. Or has any interest in watching them pat themselves on the back for what amounts to a massive distributed terrorist attack. And it would be labeled as such if Muslims did it.

TIL running over people with bulldozers and sexual torture and wanton slaughter of children are “misdeeds”. I would hate to know what they consider a war crime.
