The word Algorithm comes from a mathematician named al-Khwarizmi. Many words that begin with Al (Arabic definite article) are of Arabic origin. Alcohol is another one :)

Why is there no netflix for books? Google already scanned most of the world's books. The only thing that would be scary is someone knowing what books I read when and where. (my usual privacy concerns ...)

That was a driver issue IIRC and has since been solved. At least here [1] it looks okay to me. Not great, but okay. [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9X53UGdvX8

fc ("fix command") opens an editor with your last command and executes it when you leave the editor. fc -l lists your latest commands, fc -ln does so without line numbers. Useful if you want to write a script (fc -ln > myscript

I've heard of it, but it generates JSON, doesn't it? What I mean is something like an editor/ide for C or Python or something.

Good point. I think that's the fundamental problem why most people don't care about internet privacy or mass surveillance. It's invisible and very easy to pretend it isn't there. I'm not sure what can be done about

Yes, but you need a token to log out. For collapsing comments it should work though

It doesn't have an app as far as I know. It's a Python/Qt project as well and at a glance the code looks better, but in terms of features I think it just doesn't compare to Anki.

I'm not convinced either. But I have some ideas that would change the data representation of the flashcards and that's hard to do with anki

It's too tightly coupled, doesn't really follow best practices and is barely documented. When I wanted to improve it, it just wasn't very inviting :/ Fully agree with your 2nd paragraph though

I love anki, but I really don't like the code. I wish we could build something modern, but still open, from scratch.

In German, they're still separate words, I think "diet" made its way into German and became "Diät".

What's great though is that your body adapts. If you abstain from sweets for example, after a week or so fruit will taste much sweeter.

I feel like this article neglects the most important thing, which is sustainability. I've recently come across the idea of fasting for weight loss. Turns out most people can safely fast (eat nothing, only drink water that is) for many

Could you use this for bigger projects? Or would I run into (performance?) problems and have to port the project to another engine?
