So derivative works are possible, who will be the first to attach Zork to the OpenAI API?

While it seems like a cool enough product conceptually, in practice there is absolutely zero chance I'm putting my files in your cloud to be garbelled up by AI and paying you for the privilege. Also, allowing an agent to download arbi

The interesting tidbit here is SynthID. While a good first step, it doesn't solve the problem of AI generated content NOT having any kind of watermark. So we can prove that something WITH the ID is AI generated but we can't prov

My advice to anyone looking to make the switch is to just use Ubuntu until you're comfortable with the way a linux desktop works. The "gaming optimizations" for these enthusiast distros are marginal at best, usually just mar

Install Ubuntu. Enable the proprietary drivers if you have Nvidia graphics during the install. Install system updates when the pop up appears on first boot. Install Steam from the Ubuntu App Center. Open Steam, install a game and play it.

I've had to fix so many errors over the years due to string/symbol mismatch in function calls and/or hash access, and never once have I benefited from the extra optimizations that the guaranteed singular allocation of symbols

I'm talking about as a user of the language, not as a language designer. I have an unpopular opinion about this, but symbols are error prone and these optimizations are ultimately not worth it.
