The inevitable Apple foldable will come with the inevitable Apple price. I'd say $2000.

"...will be available on the App Store as subscriptions..." That's a hard pass from me, dawg. I refuse to subscribe to an app for a hobby.

I've had a cross-platform issue for ELEVEN YEARS with Firefox randomly not copying text into the clipboard, even when I 'cut' it-- i.e. the text disappears on cut but paste pastes whatever was in the clipboard before. I canno

No *durable* (i.e. doesn't expire in a week and need to be refreshed) sideloading is the no.2 thing keeping me off iOS. The no.1 thing is that I find the entire user experience frustrating, inflexible, and frankly condescending. 3 woul

The eSIM is all about cost savings and more control for them, sold to you as more convenience for you. I'm not giving up my SIM!

Lucky for you, but I don't have that option. I also like having the ability to move a SIM between my 5G CPE and my phone. Not gonna replace a 2 year old, €700 CPE just to try and chase eSIM dreams.

That scales with distance. If you're driving 30kph slower for 2 hours, it makes a difference. If you're heading 10-15km to the shop or the creamery, it's not so terrible. Speaking as someone who was a speed freak as a new dri

> Frankly it sounds more like you had issue with the Nvidia card than the rest of your components. Incorrect assumption. The Nvidia card went in last, after the OS was working, and is only used in passthrough.

Thanks for the snipe. The A2000 is passed through to various VMs, and not used within the base OS: I'm running a 5700G APU and using its integrated GPU on the console. Unfortunately AMD doesn't offer anything comparable that fits

Install Arch, get everything working, and DO NOT install updates. I've never had another distro that would randomly render itself unbootable or break core functionality with such frequency with the simple weekly application of updates.

That's a HUGE assumption. I'm not some idiot neophyte who just migrated from a dumb phone yesterday; I've been running Linux since 1995. Debian 12 does not function on my Ryzen 7 5700G + Biostar B550M + RTX A2000 system-- it&

You used to be able to drag the taskbar to the sides (~like NeXTStep/BeOS) or the top (~like Mac OS). I assume GP means that functionality has departed to the great bit bucket in the sky now.

Please don't act like six years is a long time to offer support. I have a 17-year-old Mac that runs the Windows 10 latest patch set just fine, and makes for a fine space heater at the same time.

I use a 2014 MacBook Pro, running Big Sur, basically daily as a low-power desktop. It is performant, runs everything I throw at it, and does so fairly silently. 16GB RAM, and an NVMe SSD in an adapter. I don't understand why this perso

I'm in Ireland. My ancient cottage gets down to about 13°C with every-other-day heating, even if it's 0° outside. Rarely colder. I do indeed just wear a jacket or a sweater, and I have a heated blanket on the couch. You get used t
