Drones are particularly good on the "bringing joy" front, and you can get very fun ones for a lot less than a VR headset. If you have the cash available, a Vive plus a computer powerful enough to run it is an incredible gift. But

Fantastic! Having been developing with the Vive for most of the last year for Left-Hand Path ( http://store.steampowered.com/app/488760 ), and given I've got a lot of mocap experience before that, I can confirm that

I was talking about self-improvement, which is similar. OK, further question - what if they want to watch The Wire and write a series critique for public consumption as their communal work? That's definitely something tangible. Does th

I use a Samson C01U condenser mic for calls. Not cheap but it also gets used for professional voice recording, and it's also not that expensive. I tend to use speakers and rely on echo cancellation. It appears to work pretty well as I

That's a really interesting proposal, and one of the few I've heard that actually could improve on a UBI in some ways. The obvious leak point - who would determine what was "worthy" work? If someone said "my project

If the bots could pass a Turing Test, fair enough, yes, that would be appealing. Something of a high bar though.

I haven't played unfair bots. Graduated to humans after hard bots. I'd play against bots, probably, if they exhibited much more human-like behaviour. I don't really care what's on the backend. Having said that, I enjoy P

Yup, just started playing DOTA2 six months ago and I'm very much enjoying it. The enormously deep gameplay and learning curve are tremendous fun. I've also got some datamining projects I want to do with it at some point - the visi

I've seen a few Trump supporters posting. They weren't popular but in comparison to most other sites I visit opposing views were more tolerated.

Yes, agreed. If I'm watching a video tutorial from someone who understands the medium and is using it to its full advantage (including understanding editing and visualisation) that's a different story. But - speaking as a former f

Can't speak for everyone, but personally I absolutely hate having to trawl through audiovisual format for learning anything, and coding is particularly bad. It's just so damn slow. I can read and absorb information about 5x faster

Great idea, but the design would have to be significantly more attractive for me to use it for most of the things that would immediately spring to mind. That's a solvable problem, though - grab some top-flight themes with appropriate l

I'm not a big fan of social media, but the argument here seems specious. Here's another way to put it - "If the first thing a person does when they get up is eat, you'd say they're a glutton". True? (Or indeed
