Yes. It's actually one of my major concerns about 21st-century life: the filter bubble effect promotes extremism in all issues and breaks down consensus. I'm working on a couple of things to attempt to combat it, but more ideas wo

I agree - I think most of the numbers in the article don't really explain why this is so interesting. To me, this is the key part of the proposal, if the technique scales: "at around 15% of the cost of traditional methods."

What went wrong with the businesses you've built so far? It's hard to tell whether you should give up (although spoilers: no, probably not, unless you've got something you'd rather be doing) without knowing what went wro

Yup. Here in Edinburgh we have quite a lot of Victorian flats with 14' ceilings. They're noticably more expensive to heat in winter than flats like my current one, which is modern and has 8' ceilings. They do also feel a lot

Depends where you live. The relative costs of restaurants and similar food-preparation services vary wildly around the globe compared with the cost of buying food and preparing it in the same city.

Practical point: I've had an Aeropress for years, using it at least once a week, often daily, always inverted. I've never knocked it over. It's much more stable inverted than you might think.

You can solve the body issue with a metal rather than paper filter, FYI. Definitely worth a try. This is the usually recommended one: http://departmentofcoffee.com/product/able-disk/

I'd argue that agitation time, press time and brew technique (inverted vs regular) are also worth considering, albeit not as important as the three you mention (plus bean choice). In particular, I find inverted brew vs regular brew usi

Agreed - I don't think people say "I'm so OCD" or similar out of malice. A lot of people genuinely don't know what OCD is or why it might be harmful. Hence I do think politely and briefly educating folk is a good th

As others on this thread have mentioned, full-blown OCD is considerably more serious than it's commonly portrayed. It's as serious a health condition as other mental illnesses like depression or bipolar disorder. Cracked.com, of a

My advice, if you want it: try and make the thing you want to make. If you get absolutely stuck, read more to find the solution. Otherwise, finish that thing, then think about what could have gone better with that thing. Research ways to do

Yeah, that's a problem in a lot of fields, not just programming. Just from my own experience, writers, marketers, filmmakers (and all the sub-disciplines within filmmaking), poker players, and entrepreneurs all suffer the same challeng
