That's depressing. This is a really neat bit of tech that I'd never consider using whilst it doesn't work in FF...

Having a quick look at the crime statistics, France doesn't seem to be a hotbed of crime and violence at the moment. According to what I could dig up from Google, it's had a homicide rate of 1.2 per 100,000 people and a serious as

I literally only just saw this, and I'd definitely have had a question. Any chance these can be announced a bit further in advance in future?

This is extremely impressive. I've tried a wide variety of voxel modeling tools, free and not free, and this one's by far the most intuitive, and prettiest, I've found - in that it's the only one I haven't given up

That's the same reason I got a Surface Pro. (Well, one of them.) I can play almost any modern game on the darn thing, which is quite impressive. Even The Witcher 3 will run on it, I understand (haven't tried it myself). At low set

There's another element to this too which multiplies the problem: whether the competition is on a local or a global scale. Consider being a chef vs being a filmmaker. If you're the best chef in a city, you'll be in considerab

I got rather confused by the title. My first thoughts were: "A static site generator that runs entirely client-side? How's that possible? Surely it needs to write to the server at some point..."

I can't recommend a 2-pack, but for a nearly unbreakable single learner drone the Hubsan x4 is the standard, and it's great. When you and your kids start flying drones you WILL crash them. A lot. Hence why the "unbreakable&qu

Yeah, projectors are a different kettle of fish, at least for 4k. I'm strongly considering a 4k projector when they get to a decent bang-for-buck ratio.

Still of relevance: the "when will 4k matter to you?" chart. http://s3.carltonbale.com/resolution_chart.html Short version: you might get some benefit from an 8k tv (and associated 8k media if/when it arrives

That's odd, I've been using a laptop to demo Rift tech for some time... (Although it's quite a beefy laptop, optimised for 3D work.)

If you're a 3D artist or programmer you'll probably find uses for it soon enough. Either making 3D art in it (something I've already done at a simple level, and will do more of once more tools are compatible) or making VR app

The big difference so far is positional tracking. Being able to move your head in a 3D environment is huge, and results in a lot less VR sickness.

I think you'd be OK, but I can't say for sure, as I haven't tried it. Nothing I know of that would prevent you doing that, though. You would probably need a card that supported DX11 or equivalent and possibly DX12 - not sure

Don't know if this helps, but - that prediction strategy doesn't work if your passion's for a hits-driven / inverse-square-law business. Lots of authors, for example, write for +-20 years before writing the book that bre

My hunch would be, unless it's very low-effort for you or potentially reaches a massive customer base, that the price is too low rather than too high. I can think of almost no services I pay that amount per year for. I can think of sev

I've been meaning to test to see if I'm subject to nostalgia bias on this. Any suggestions for how to do so? FWIW, I have a VERY strong feeling that the content on HN has shifted since about five years ago, to the point that I

Definitely. I read HN to get content I can't get anywhere else, specifically useful, actionable content. If I want to read articles from Vice, The Atlantic or the NYT, there are plenty of other places for those to bubble up.

Any chance this will have a plugin language for exporters? I desperately want something like MarkdownPad but with the ability to write an exporter for BBCode.
