Just in case the occasional anti-games mentality rears its ugly head around here: whilst there are lots of good suggestions coming up, games are certainly a pretty solid way to relax too. In the last couple of months I've been recoveri

Oh, definitely not. We aren't at The Last Game Engine by a long way - but currently it's an uphill battle to introduce a new one, and I'm dubious this engine is differentiated enough to succeed. There might be a lot of compet

Oh, really? Now THAT is interesting. Neither Unity nor Unreal currently support Alembic - this is the first indication I've had that the Amazon engine might have some features the others don't. Thanks!

Hmm, interesting question whether the exporter supports Maya LT. I'd guess it does, and it's cheap (ish).

Digging into the details, it seems this is largely a fork or adaption of the CryEngine, with all the advantages and disadvantages that brings. As I said about Autodesk's offering, Stingray, I think that even a giant like Amazon is goin

This is basically the messaging system from Dark Souls in real life, right? Very cool.

Absolutely! The only exception to that rule, which I feel is worth mentioning, is the infamous two-sided marketplace or network-dependent business. In both cases market leaders have clear lock-in and it's very hard to compete with them

OK, really blunt question for the OP - what exactly does this do? It looks like a visual web design editor a la Bootstrap Studio et al, but you mention it's specifically for templates. I'm a little confused, and the landing page t

Your business in this case is the website. I've personally built affiliate-based infosites that yielded significant income off CPS (what you're calling a one-off commission here) for 3+ years, and that's nothing compared to t

You can get a snapshot of how big game studios organise their art assets by using various modding or decompilation tools to have a look inside their package files. For example, you can use MPQ Explorer to look inside the package files of Wo

Very cool indeed. Surprisingly expressive. My one issue - the diffuse/reflective/transmissive sliders don't seem to cause the image to update?

Monetising for you, or for them? Patreon's rapidly becoming the dominant monetisation method for webcomics (right behind ads, which you've said you don't want), so for them, I'd recommend integrating Patreon really well,

Yup. The problem is not designing solid haptics. The problem is designing solid haptics that can't easily kill or maim you.

A bit minimal for my needs but a cool start. Unless I missed it, there doesn't seem to be a way to drag items around - I tend to use visual arrangement in my mindmaps quite a bit.

That's fine unless you're not a developer, don't have a Github account, don't know what it is and don't want one. For any wide-usage FOSS project, that'll describe quite a lot of their users.

OK, I'm rather impressed. I was expecting this to be, shall we say, at usual FOSS levels of user-friendliness for non-technical users, but the new client (Vector) is very easy to get started with. I'd suggest making it clear that

Conversely, for years I've followed the rule of watching fiction TV shortly before bed - this started when I was single and read research saying that you sleep better if you see human faces just before bed. It seems to have worked.

Whilst you have a valid point here, one thing that concerns me with this message is that it could easily make the problem of inequality in entrepreneurship worse, by giving across the strong message that the opinion is universally "if
