Haskell now has "editions" which are essentially an agreed upon stable set of useful extensions. https://ghc.gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/doc/users_guide/exts/cont... This makes the language feel a l

As far as I understand, Keto helps manage the symptoms of diabetes, but will not prevent it, and (without a source on hand), might actually increase your chances of developing it relative to a healthy diet that includes (mostly unrefined) c

I would have to go dig up the source for this, but I believe that genetics play a role on how your body handles dietary cholestrol. For many it's not a problem, but for some it is.

> Why would I care about ... You would not allow those commits. Code review improvements should appear as fixup commits which should be autosquashed on merge. It is a shame that GitHub does not support autosquash though.

This is an odd take. If a bunch of "exceptional" humans start attacking me, I'm going to fight back. That has little to do with how I normally treat others (human or not).

I feel like defaulting to not having the same is unjustified. Given that we have so much in common.

There is a library for Haskell that will do it. Though it doesn't support all GHC versions. It's very nifty if you need it. https://github.com/jberthold/packman

I've run Vault for a long time, and none of this surprises me. I've even reported some of these to Hashicorp in the past, along with other equally shocking bugs. The code base is an absolute mess. The number of bugs and weird edge

I used to be able to read ascii flying over a uart using an oscilloscope. I think these days the scopes will decode it for you. Good times.

If you set up multiple TCP connections over Wireguard, there is no head-of-line blocking either. And Wireguard also transitions across network changes. In fact, it's one of the main reasons I use Wireguard. I can transition between mob

Hmmm, I don't see it? Are debuggers hard to use? Sometimes. But the debugger is allowing you to do something you couldn't actually do before. i.e. set breakpoints, and step through your code. So, while tricky to use, you are still

The current implementation, in the beta release, differs somewhat from upstream in how it handles entities from different levels in the namespace hierarchy. But this is a very welcome step, and I look forward to eventually replacing Vault.

Most terminal emulators have no way of reporting their capabilities at run time. And having dtach or abduco modify the TERM environment variable of the already spawned child is not possible, and even if it did, there is no standard way to g

I do use abduco and dvtm, however, there is one major flaw in splitting the persistence and the emulator/multiplexer: if you detach, then reattach with a different terminal, with different capabilities, the emulator (which is running i

I've often thought the same. I would love a depedency manager that not only surfaced this information, but required you to declare upfront what level your library is. I think it would reign in the bloat.

Meat and dairy are bad for GHG, but they are also terrible for most of the other bad things we do to the planet. Eutrophication, species extinction, habitat loss, water use. And the people in power do what the people want, that's why t

The problem is that process A might spawn process B that might spawn process C. A may have opened an fd for C to use, and B has no way of knowing that. You really shouldn't be closing random fds that you inherited.

Not only is it small, it's just plain weird. Most of the people assigned to the soy were women. The average age of the soy participants was also much higher. They could have at least done a crossover.

How do you compact with conservative GC? You can't change the pointer values because they might not be pointers right?
