Of course, the Azure portal can be a beast as well -- if you're the impatient, fast context-switching kind of person that doesn't like to design their dashboard up-front, I can see that it may be frustrating for some.

GCP is pretty easy for simple stuff -- I had good luck just w/Firebase for auth and simple back-end. The Azure learning curve seems to be steady, while AWS at least to me has more (initial and subsequent) hurtles to overcome.

Yes, as a developer I prefer to work in Azure over the others, so I wouldn't say it's an unimportant issue. Maybe there are more greenfield and small devs. going to Azure, and more mature/ported solutions that just scale in c

I hope it's not just for mobile -- PDFs are good for printing, but not much else. Even viewing explicitly-paged documents (esp. w/two columns) is painful. I'll be happy if I can skip all the zooming and panning I have to do o

But I think learning Cobol is only about 25% -- the hard parts are knowing what the legacy codes does vs. what it's supposed to do vs. what you really want to do, understand how and when the Cobol code actually runs on the legacy syste

I agree about Teams - but I don't think it's fair to extend this to Azure or to Microsoft in general as some responses have done. Having been at MS while Teams was being developed, I can say from interactions with those involved t

Getting visualizations for real-world data-structures is hard -- once you go past toy examples, GraphViz (or anything else I've seen) gets pretty unusable.

As someone who has been programming for 40 years and had a decently successful career but is struggling with these challenges now, I can empathize. It's not so much what the challenge is -- it's how one is asked to accomplish it

I agree that that is how a parsing & instantiating framework should be built , and you should be able to hook in at any level -- but the reality is that normally when one consumes such data you are using both functions at the same time

But you won't know at parse-time how to tread the item. Below we have duplicate "keys" and an atom in the middle of a k/v list -- what do we do here? Are the dup keys an error, or do we make a multi-map? Do we throw away

There is not new syntax for LINQ either -- it's just fluent-style via extension methods. I don't know many people that use the SQL-like syntax any more -- and it only covers a tiny amount of the functionality.
