I know it's not the trendy thing, but <center> has always done exactly what I wanted without much fuss. Even if it's technically depreciated, it's in such widespread use that no sane browser would ever remove support.

I've been experimenting with VS Code remote for the past few weeks, and I'm really enjoying it. I have a Linux desktop that I run headless in the closet and can connect to it from thin clients. I recently bought the base model new

Seems like Yahoo just uses the Bing API these days. > Yahoo! Search is a rebadged version of the Bing search engine owned by Yahoo!, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Search

I see people recommending DuckDuckGo a lot here which is basically just Bing without personalized results.

I mean yeah $800 is a lot of money for a phone. Even Apple sells the iPhone SE for $400. For $800 you could almost get a MacBook Air and you could buy multiple iPads.

The bugs are probably still there on the Windows version but those users are less accustomed to filling bug reports.

I also just bought the new Macbook Air. It's my first ever Apple product.

I don't think it will be remembered like the iPhone. Probably more like the original Macbook Air. The original Air created the class of ultrabooks which made the bulky Windows laptops at the time obsolete for average users. The new M1

I wonder if it's because reading books is more niche compared to listening to music or watching TV. So a higher percentage of book readers are enthusiasts who prefer to own rather than stream.

If you pay for Google One they have live chat and email support. Usually I think they also have phone support but not currently due to COVID. https://i.imgur.com/cXeu1HB.png

One argument I've heard is that you can encrypt your data now to gain privacy while you're alive. Then by the time the data would be useful for historians they'll probably have enough compute to break 21st century encryption.

But do any of those come with the ISO available at https://www.archlinux.org/download/ ? I don't see how you can say something "just works" if you have to go out of your way to choose an installer for it.

Do you really mean Arch Linux or something based on it like Manjaro? Pretty sure Arch Linux doesn't even come with an installer.

As far I can tell Google currently has two products called "Google Chat". One of them is available at chat.google.com for G-Suite customers and competes with Slack. The other is available in Android Messages and is the user-facing

I don't really see how something like Realt is any different from owning a REIT. You still have to trust that the property actually exists. AFAIK there is no way for a blockchain to "own" property in the U.S. so there must be

I believe the way Slack works is that old messages are kept but hidden unless you pay. So someone could still subpoena the old messages.

Clearly Linux is an important application to run for some Mac users since Apple took the time to show Debian running during their keynote (Photoshop only got a passing mention).

I'm not sure what you've tried. If you run Linux on a fairly generic computer (like an Intel NUC) then everything will work out of the box. The more you deviate from the average the more likely things will break.

I think if you want a laptop to run Linux then you should just buy a laptop that comes with Linux. There are some pretty good options out there today (Dell XPS Dev Edition, ThinkPad, System 76, etc.) that you can buy from the manufacturer w
