So what does it do now? Is it just an older version number or did they remove the number altogether.

I'm sure you could find an Android One phone with a MicoSD slot. My new Nokia 7.1 has one and is Android One. https://www.androidauthority.com/nokia-7-1-specs-909661/

I agree. I recently purchased the Nokia 7.1 on eBay ($200) and it does everything I need in a phone and has nice build quality. I feel that there aren't really many applications that utilize the powerful hardware of modern flagships, s

One critique I have is that it seems like it's binary whether you complete a task on any given day which doesn't work well if you only partially complete something. For example, lets say I set a goal to walk for 1 hour per day. Bu

This isn't directly related to the article, but I've noticed lots of Stack Overflow answers now contain outdated information in the highest voted answer. I wonder if moving to a velocity based ranking system (like HN and Reddit) i

I think a lot of Y Combinator companies get preferential treatment for posts (especially job listings). So in that sense HN does have ads.

Every major retailer in the U.S. that I've visited has them. Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc.

That's true. I don't really know why Syncthing isn't on iOS. It could be missing APIs or licensing issues with GPL. Hopefully something gets worked out eventually.

That's a fair point. For me, I am pretty much always connected to WiFi except when I'm driving. However, I understand that may not be the case for everyone.

Well you're not alone. I feel like I've never read a book that couldn't have been compressed down to an article and provided the same value (information dense books like textbooks excluded). I do enjoy listening to audiobooks

A big pro of using phone #s is that it allows users to effectively take their social network with them from app to app instead of being locked in. IMO phone numbers are a pretty terrible system (you would never ask people to remember dozens

How does RCS help Google "spy on users" any more than SMS?

Why wouldn't you be able to use a 3rd part RCS client. There are loads of 3rd party SMS clients and I'm sure many of them would also work fine with RCS. Your carrier just provides you access to the SMS/RCS network, they have

I do. The only thing I hate more than unencrypted messages is vendor lock in. There is no way I'm going to willingly lock my self into some companies chat ecosystem if there is a widely adopted federated alternative. It's the same

My 24/7 server is my Android phone. It doesn't cost me anything more than before it had Syncthing on it and maintenance consists of running Android updates which I did anyway. I suspect that most people with smartphones also leave

Why do you feel that infinite growth is impossible? Seems like once we've used up all of Earth's resources we can just move along to Mars, then the outer planets, and so on.
