Yeah, the targeted photography is my next step. I live in Brooklyn, and my pigeon raising friend lives in Jersey, so if we release the bird from the right place in Brooklyn we should be able to get some interesting photos of Manhattan.

Egypt's previous de-desertification project "Toshka" kinda of worked. It wasn't the massive job creator that it was sold as because most of the farming was very large scale and mechanized. But it was able to produce la

I think people first moved away from SMS because it cost extra to send them, while messaging apps were virtually free. Then messaging apps beat SMS on features, you can send photos, videos, files, read receipts, works across platforms, etc

Yeah, I work on the campus regularly, and the TIM ticket system is often inconsistent, so I shadow people through doors.

This is sometimes true. Like in Tunisia where they give a free SIM in baggage claim. But I crossed a lot of land borders through west africa where it would be a day or two of traveling before I could find an official store that had a phys

Letting the camera take control will result in good photos. But great photos are more likely when you take technical control and put thought behind each photo.

I want WebP to work, but when I use it on my website the colors are different than the original JPEG files. This is a problem because I'm a photographer and those subtle differences can make a photo feel flat and dead. When the color

This used to be one of Google Fi's selling points, that you could use it anywhere even for extended periods of time. Now they have shortened their arbitrary limit so it's catching a lot of people by surprise.

It goes much deeper than that. For a while now Israel has been using NSO as an incentive for foreign relations with authoritarian regimes. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/20/pegasus-projec...

This sounds like a hobby project. Except Sudan has had its internet cut for 2 weeks. A widely used mesh network app would really change the balance of power between the people and the military coup.

I've been on a buying spree this last month, picking up Minolta rokkor lenses for video use. They are some cheap and well made. Leica even borrowed their design for their 24mm.

I'll have to look into them. I've been using https://www.octoink.co.uk for my photo printing and they have been great. The sad thing is that there aren't any good review sites.

Could they also prevent it from being made by competitors and then refuse to distribute it in those countries? If not denying it to those countries at least delaying it in bureaucracy?

I kind of played with this idea when the military was deployed in Boston. Now that their uniform and paint signatures are designed to camouflage them from infrared signatures in the forests they stick out like a sore thumb in the city. ht

Halide might consider writing up these tricks in a blog post. I'm sure a lot of your users would benefit from it while we wait for Apple.

I love Halide but never remembered to open it. Luckily iOS 14 shortcuts made it possible to trigger open Halide whenever the Camera app is opened. It now acts like the default camera app. Specific instructions: https://www.davi
