You should really look into multistage builds. This sort of deployment should scare you.

Yeah, if you have a simpleish app (or even not a simple app) you can probably benefit from playing around with how PG does search without needed ES/Solr/etc. But it really depends what you do, obviously.

Azure disk speed for VMs is absolutely horrendous for the amount you have to pay. Our workloads are so bad because of this.

Yeah, I've tried buildkite, and like it, but the thing about CI is it should be immutable. Plus gitlab has pretty good pricing for me for my personal project (free).

Gitlab is pretty much the only provider other than CircleCI to get CI right. I use their hosted gitlab version, but have their CI runner on our ci box that runs docker. It's fantastic.

I want to love OVH, they just need to spend some time overhauling their terrible management UI.

Yeah their UI is beyond useless. Their support is beyond useless. Can't even cancel my servers, but everything else was great. Ended up having to use their API to cancel the server, since support wouldn't cancel the server for me

Their UI is pretty terrible and broken though, the entire Microsoft ecosystem, including Office365 admin is pretty buggy and terrible. Better than it use to be, so I'll give them that, atleast they are always improving.

Our tests take about 10 seconds to run (mainly the tewts which need to test a lot of endpoints, our domain is around 1.4s), with the compile being the slow part, which brings CI to around 1min30s-1min50s on average. We use elixir, so we get

Here in Australia, bank transfers are free between banks, but can take a couple of days to clear sometimes (same bank is instant). Heard horror stories elsewhere, but pretty good customer experience here in AU IMHO.

Only reason I use FB is chat as well, simply because friends and family still use it. Only reason I still have a FB account and not simply a messenger account is spotify is tied to it and I can't unlink from FB as the login source..

You can learn both, but learning the basics of elixir will help. Phoenix is not your app, don't treat it like that.

If only you could pattern match x in the function def, would remove the need for this whole thing.

You should learn elixir before phoenix. Phoenix is just elixir.

I really want to love the new Firefox, it's really great... Except I can't debug promises in JavaScript, and JavaScript debugging seems very subpar compared to chrome.

If you are scraping specific pages on a site, curl. Then transform that into the language you use.
