Thanks for sharing. I know a lot of people who are burnt out by WoW and it hasn't been fun for them in a long time.

Another way is to have an array of functions and just loop||recurse through them. This gives the illusion of serial execution. There are actually a number of other ways to get around the function nesting issue as well.

For now. If you reach out directly, they should be able to help you. There are a good number of east coast students (and from elsewhere) already in the system.

http://keynotopia.com/ is ftw. Super cheap, works on most devices, and when exported to PDF... the links (aka interaction) is maintained.

+1 for reliable internet. One dinky router is not enough to satisfy 200 hackers. I've been to half a dozen with internet issues and it destroys productivity. Even with iPhone tethering, if we had 200 tetherers the cross-interference woul

FYI, it is only the first chunk you get upon signup AND it stops being free after 4-5 weeks. It wasn't explicitly clear on the landing page.

Try to make friends with founders whose products you like who happen to be in say the 500Startups portfolio. You're not the only one in this position. The founders of Bee-Shopy moved from Spain to be a part of 500Startups. Use their produc

Depends on your actual situation. In around 2004, Amazon was about to launch S3 until Bezos sent the team back to the drawing board because their current architecture would eventually hit a wall. Three years later, it finally launched. Bi

Nevermind >_>, now there are 12 :D. The program runs 3 months with an option to extend another 3 months (if your demo fails). I think the acceptance process is rolling.

This current round is not officially over AFAIK. Dave wants around 10 accelerator companies in this batch.

Yeah, not really a good comparison. There are a good number of YC companies in the 500Startups portfolio/mafia. What I liked about the current process is that networking and pitching became a way to practice and learn more about that proce

For example, a common question is... how does one apply. There are some misleading answers on the internet right now but the official answer is you don't. It is a lot like typical angel/VCs, you have to network and come in via some mutual

The mentorship and talks so far have been AMAZINGLY valuable. The 500Startups team has explicitly asked founders in the program to be vocal and outgoing about the program. So ask me anything :D

Not to mention the completely open source alternatives like http://getbeehive.com (which has been adapted to use Node.js already). But on the other hand, Heroku doesn't solve every problem - here's hoping there is more room in the market!

I recommended Zerigo to a bunch of my friends, we all have been incredibly happy with it thus far. The web2.0 website is great, the API is excellent compared to what we'd been using previously and super fast TTLs/updates = super helpful.
