My bad, I thought the oled model was meant to replace the standard switch. The lite does indeed start at $199.99, but that can’t do docked mode so it’s not really a fair comparison to this steam deck. The base regular switch is $299.99.

To me this seems like a decent combination of all of their past hardware experiments. It’s a steam machine, but in a portable form factor. It has the streaming capabilities of the link, and the touch controls of the steam controller. If thi

Steam link is not the best example as they’ve made it available on standard hardware like raspberry pi and it’s baked into the OS of many smart TVs now. They just pivoted from selling their own hardware for it. They also continue to update

That’s not even remotely true if you’re comparing the new OLED model switch to the base model steam deck. $349.99 vs $399.99.

It can run Kodi and Retroarch natively. They released an SDK for it but it kind of flew under the radar.

This is a very real problem in large organizations. I’ve found an effective alternative while working remote is to escalate to my manager in such situations. Usually they have a little more organizational clout and can get a response.

Funny enough, the new PowerShell fits this description too now that it’s packaged for Linux.

I find it hard to believe that someone looking into alternative shells would have never heard of PowerShell. I get that Windows isn’t exactly most people’s OS of choice, but the existence of PowerShell is widely known.

Perhaps the situation has changed recently, but a few years ago I had an acer c720 and remember this being mitigated by flashing seabios. This completely removed chromeos rather than dual booting, but it worked excellently for taking to lec

M.2 drives are still removable in the X1 Yoga Thinkpads. The notable difference from thicker T series is that RAM is soldered.

I tend to agree. It seems like the author of the article already addressed this accusation [0]. I admittedly am biased in favor of OSS authors but I tend to agree with the points he made there. Namely, this product doesn’t clone any design

In such a case, maybe Wordpress themselves should extend some engineering capacity for maintaining popular OSS plugins for their ecosystem.

Their silence on this matter speaks volumes. I’ve seen the Replit founders comment on just about every other HN post that pops up regarding their company so it’s quite surprising that they’ve made no comment here. Very curious to hear the o

I have this and enjoy it quite a bit. The thumb cluster is nice, but the red keys and the bottom thumb keys are a bit of a reach for me when tented. Their software is pretty good though. It’s super easy to modify the layout.

I’ve just started down this path and I agree. K3os makes setting up a cluster in a VM dead simple and from there it’s really easy to play around with. Especially using snapshots for the VM in case you break your cluster and need to revert.

Just started this journey myself and while there’s tons to learn, getting something up and running using k3os and flux cd takes no time at all and gets you a working cluster synced to your repo. K3s is pretty light, I know some people runni

Worth noting in iOS any contact may bypass DND by calling twice in quick succession even if the contact isn’t starred.

I do something similar but have my DND hours for my work apps set on outside work hours and at night. If someone really needs me, they can call me twice in a row to override the DND and sound my ringtone (at least on iOS).

I’ve worked for multiple FAANGs and can assure you that all have considered file names to be PII. Pretty much anything that contains user input should be treated as PII.

I just ordered a Moonlander, but the UHK was one of the boards I considered. Those interchangeable thumb modules are such a brilliant idea. If the UHK were ortho it would have been a much harder choice for me.

I would also find it off-putting. IMO one should feel embarrassed to disclose that the company they recruit employees for makes a habit of burning those employees out and then tossing them for more new hires.

I’d argue that using the laptop at a desk negates the need for a “yank-proof” charger since in most office situations there’s an outlet near or under the desk. Thus the cable won’t be draped across a walkway where someone might trip on it.
