I'm not sure of this. The jury is still out on most ai tools. Even if it is true, it may be in a kind of strange reverse way: people innovating by asking what ai can't do and directing their attention there.

You are creating a false dichotomy. Very few people are saying there are no benefits, but many have reasonable concerns both about the current efficacy of these tools as well as the expectation of continued exponential growth which is drivi

The problem with a doctor making an extravagant living is that it calls into question their motivation for working as a healer. How can I feel good about my patients if I know that they can barely afford to pay for my cafe? Or conversely, w

I am sort of surprised that there isn't a widely used tool that uses codegen to generate jni bindings sort of like what the jna does but at build time. You could go meta and bundle a builder in a jar that looks for the shared library i

All of this feels like a side effect of a low trust environment. I respect the author's creativity, but the environment described sounds highly dysfunctional. In my opinion, if the ceo is demanding an arbitrary metric from his subordin

I think it also has hurt a lot of software engineers in a number of different ways. AI assisted programming tools are an experiment and the jury is still very much out.

I don't really understand this statement. Do you genuinely think that there is no difference in QOL between a 30 minute drive on a packed freeway vs a 40 minute walk on pleasant streets? Personally, I'd leave 10 minutes earlier an

My favorite thing about rust is when rust devs say that the slow compile things aren't a big deal and then show how that just by dropping a few dependencies you can get hello world down from 90 seconds to 30 seconds.

The author seems to be describing what happens when one's primary relationship with music is one of consumption. It is easy (for me at least) to find new music when you are looking for inspiration in your own practice of making music.

Saying lua is bad is another way of saying "I don't understand lua." It could be better in many ways (especially syntactically), but it has no serious competition in the embeddable scripting language category.
