I can't think of any time a double-comma would be syntactically correct. Double-semicolons, which may be what you're referring to, are never required (although in some situations they will cause syntax errors to appear closer to

Parent is specifically talking about full time positions. No one is concerned about short stints that are clearly internships. That's just how they work.

There is no "OCaml middle end". Reason is parsed into the same AST as OCaml, and then passed through the rest of the OCaml compiler.

Unless you know more than us about their deficit, we can't really say how big this was. If they were spending 101% of revenues, for example, 35% off their deficit _is_ a blip.

I don't really understand how a blockchain allows participation to be permissionless (how do you know what's written there corresponds to reality?) so maybe that's where the magic is, but every other point has been solved for

Trello shared an office with Fog Creek until last December or so, so no surprise that they're similar. I suspect Trello retained the offices layout since Fog Creek was the one that moved out.

For one thing, it claims to eliminate the speed arms race by setting a sufficiently long gap between auctions, but depends on a bizarre assumption that there are 2 speeds at which information can get to the market, each at a particular cost

That pretty clearly wouldn't work. A necessary (but not sufficient) condition for breaking a trade typically involves language like "clearly erroneous". Selling an option that is trading in the $100s for $1 (the case here)

The claim made by that article isn't nearly as strong as what you're saying it claims. Two-user encryption obviously can be made secure. But when one of the keys that can decrypt something is shared by every message using that pro

It can be done from the command-line ( https://www.janestreet.com/tech-talks/code-review/); many people just find the Emacs integration nicer. But there are plenty of vim users who use the command-line instead.

In two comments here you've called USD unstable and Bitcoin stable. Can you explain what stability of a currency means to you? Because it appears to be very different from how the rest of us define it.

As Haskell shows, typeclasses are not ruled out by type inference. There is a reason they can't be added to OCaml, though, and it is functors. OCaml's functors are fundamentally incompatible with typeclasses. I think one of the

I think OCaml fits your description. ReasonML is an alternative syntax, and it is in fact implemented as simply a parser that generates the same AST as the OCaml parser, plugged into the rest of the OCaml compiler. This is particularly easy

Here's a couple: Monads are so pervasive that multiple languages have determined that they deserve special syntax (see: Haskell's do-notation, OCaml's let-syntax). Those syntaxes play nicely with a ton of seemingly-different
