The parent was talking about ePrivacy Directive which is a regulation for companies registered and operating in EU. That is where the cookie banner requirement comes from.

In Switzerland there are no gates or a need for "showing a card/ticket to an operator, or otherwise proving you have, in fact, purchased a fare". You just enter the bus/train/tram vehicle. Maybe a ticket controllant

This is true. Road damage scales with the _fourth_ power of axle load. Pedestrian and bike infra for majority of cases in dense areas is objectively better in all metrics except human laziness and entitlement
