What do you mean by promoting yourself exactly? That gives me the idea that you expect people to find you for work/jobs/thenextbigthing -- much like an actor might want to be promoted. That's not usually what you're doin

I've often thought about just offering my services as a sys-admin to the multitude of small startups that popup locally. Many, many developers -- almost no sys-admining skills amongst them. Just fire up a server on AWS and away you go.

Both, really. I like this enough to look at it again when I have time. I rarely "watch" a project however.

I love the $ sign -- super easy to see variables versus just bare words where you just rely on case or naming convention. Of course, my first language was Perl, so I've been in love with the $ for ages.

I think I may be in the minority for just not liking Markdown in general. I don't understand the hub-bub around it.

Generally much slower response, Final Cut breaking, trouble with hanging apps needing force quits, and it goes on. Minor by themselves; scary when it all seemed to happen after each person upgraded. Maybe I've waited long enough befor

Same devs who just say "users should just upgrade their browsers" perhaps? If only it were that easy. Yosemite just seems to "break" some things and I've still been waiting it out.

I'm with you on this; I can't leave Mavericks just yet. Every colleague I have that's moved on has had numerous issues with their machine. And now this crap. Ugh.

Slack uses that # convention as well (also probably inspired by IRC). That and the use of hashtags to group things together on Twitter, etc. I guess it's just a "thing" now.

I think this article pretty much sums up why I don't like the concept of winning a Hackathon. This seems more like a startup competition, rather than a hackathon. Seems less about the hacking, and more about the "let's throw

I think he means no writing of JS required to use it. Include the library, and just use HTML to do the rest. I agree though, bad use of saying "no js required".

Doesn't work in Safari. It searches for com.google instead. Confirmed with Safari that has Google as search engine and one that has DuckDuckGo as search engine.

Searching with less is a cool feature, but I think the best thing I learned was to use -F instead of -f with tail thanks to the comments on the article and HN. Of course I'll probably fail to use any of it because of finger memory just

Chrome only makes it hard to use, but I've starred it and if I can somehow squeeze in time, I'd love to fork the project and see if I can help bring it to other browsers.

Wow, guess I'm just weird for liking the flat keys of a Apple keyboard. I need to get my hands on one of these mechanical keyboards just to see what I'm missing I guess.

Yes, the JSX is "weird" to me. But even the pure JS method. I shouldn't have said "barely JS anymore". I'm just not a huge fan of apps built entirely in JS that spit out markup. I find it so messy personally, b

Sounds like you've answered this yourself. You don't even have to dive into React (which has its own unique way that I'd call barely JS anymore). Have you tried Cordova / Phonegap?

I don't even want to talk to my friends in the car. Get from point A to point B, listen to the radio, be quiet. Rest of my day is noise.

From my admittedly limited perspective, it just NOW seems that Microsoft is really pushing for devs to meet up with real web development. I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with MS devs who only know how to develop w

Let Dart stay and transpile. Let them continue to make Dart better. Even if it exists only to transpile into JS like CoffeeScript and TypeScript and not run natively in the browser -- as long as they keep innovating with the language, the
