I completely agree with you and that’s the thing; he was sentenced to 7 years in 2019 but he’s already out of prison and has a passport. He was free in less than 3. He is presumably out on some kind of supervised release which is probably g

Taking the sentence at face value, even the initial 7 year sentence seems really extreme given the actual damages but from the article: > Over a period of more than 10 years > Precisely when King began serving his initial prison sente

I’d say my main concern isn’t strictly “banning books” but open access to information. How do you determine literary value? The catcher in the rye at least was considered risqué and had been banned. It isn’t some great novel unlike any othe

Those are anecdotes and I have one of my own that really has me questioning this; I’ve lost 85 lbs since the beginning of May. I lost 40/85 just since the beginning of December through today. When I exercise I clearly lose weight more

I love flying first class. The seats are just so much more comfortable. I can’t justify the extra $300-500+ per ticket for what is at most 5-6 hours though. I’ve only done it once but we sat on the runway for over an hour and I didn’t care

I’d like that. I’d hate to live through something like “The Troubles” in Ireland.

It was a weird feeling when the news started to report on popular YouTube videos and later social media posts. More lately social media TRENDS. The media landscape has become so strange in the past decade. The more I think about it, adverti

I still listen to every other podcast through the Apple Podcasts app. The nice thing about the Spotify exclusive podcast was it is much easier to skip ads. JRE is the only podcast I’ve listened to on Spotify that has first party ads you can

I didn’t mean to imply that they were always honest or aren’t agenda driven. Unlike Joe Rogan of late, it doesn’t come up too often / isn’t something I want to inject into every conversation I have. For example I’m always annoyed when

I love Joe. I use Spotify exclusively to listen to his podcast. I listen to every episode… I wish there was a way to tell them if it wasn’t for his show I’d never use their app but I suspect they already know that. Unfortunately I think att

I was thinking along the same lines. My coworkers get tested all the time, mostly for no real reason. Ironically one guy was out with covid for a few days after being vaccinated and boosted. All indications are that omicron is more often th

I definitely get what you mean. I was always able to do math to a satisfactory level but it didn’t come quite as easily until I learned how to think about it properly. Only my calculus teacher in college’s methods really clicked with me and
