I personally use Matrix and bridge all my social accounts to there. It works super well, because my friends don't have to switch their app, but I see everyone in just one app. matrix.org/bridges

Ask HN: Are there any open-source Spotify Clients?

that makes sense, I am renting this. not buying. Lesson learned.
42.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
I guess because then people could redistribute it under their own terms. Which is pirating, and therefore illegal.
43.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
may I ask why?
44.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
Now I found that I can't delete it anymore :(. I think I need to ask an admin to do that. @dang if you're reading this, please delete this listing, Thanks.
45.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
wait, I don't think this allows free downloading. AFAIK, it only works with premium accounts. That was the whole intent for me at least.

Good point, I personally think that since I am paying for Spotify, I have the right to get the mp3/ogg files.
47.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
Also, how can they tell that it is librespot, and how can they block it? Isn't it basically simulating being one of the official Spotify clients? I really do not want them to get banned or blocked
48.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
That is true, maybe I should delete the HN listing. I actually would like to know how to modify librespot to do so, since I am not a developer or know any Rust at all. Thus this project seems useful to me.

Big distinction from Oggify, as Spotiflyer downloads from Deezer/YouTube, so some songs may not be available
51.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
lol
52.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
That is true, but sometimes YouTube versions are different and sometimes the songs are not even available on YouTube
53.
by thebiblelover7 5y ago
Wouldn't that be kind of bad for Spotify? They lose a customer. Maybe they don't care losing one customer for making sure their music stays private.

by thebiblelover7 5y ago
It is working pretty well for me so far

Have you checked out Logseq? Joplin? All good alternatives IMO.

That is the main goal of the server. In my opinion, it is a pretty good idea to run a lightning node so that you help the network and "help yourself".

Hi Varun! This seems like a great project! Have you thought of open sourcing your project? (maybe you already have, I just haven't seen it yet) I've been looking for an open source alternative to kahoot and this looks like a great
