To be fair: there have been several SEGFAULT issues opened already on the repo. The only time I've seen a SEGFAULT in Rust was when using a really badly implemented C library wrapper.

Did you benchmark if a the binary lockfile actually makes any appreciable difference for execution time? Considering the speed with which a fast parser can gobble up JSON I'm somewhat skeptical that this would be relevant for common op

The benchmark source code links on the homepage are "Not found". Also a few questions: What do you attribute the performance advantage to? How much of it is JavascriptCore instead of v8 versus optimized glue binding implementation

This regulation is 5+ years overdue, but legislation always lags behind market conditions. If the US/other countries follow suit there will probably be a big unintended effect though: the diminishing of open web standards and Google g

The problem with GDPR is underspecification and bad enforcement because the agency of the country where the company is registered is responsible, and the fuzzy nature of the law allows companies to drag out fees with long legal battles. The

Honestly... At this point, and after trying to engage constructively in other comments, I don't think the claims are actually intentionally false. They may just come from a fundamental lack of knowledge about low level development.

You are missing my point! My post wasn't about this concrete issue, which can also be explained. My point is about a civil discourse culture driven by (precise) technical arguments, not hostility or deflection. Which I am not seeing, wh

This type of hostile response to a very valid question is why you are not changing the opinion of many users here on HN. A leak is a valid concern, because it implies problems with memory management. "We choose to not free some memory

You might want to look into the somewhat dodgy history of the language. The negativity is not surprising. Though you may just be asking rhetorically to probe for a response from the founder, in which case, never mind.

I'm curious how many users are now using vim versus neovim. I switched a few years ago,and ever since Lua plugin support the Neovim ecosystem is thriving.

So basically an actor system with relations between actors, reactivity and automatic persistence. Very interesting concept! Although I do wonder if this couldn't be implemented as a library for an existing language. Doesn't seem l

I also much prefer explicit error handling and really disklike exceptions because every function can fail in a myriad of ways and you have no idea how. Rust does it much, much better than Go though, thanks to sum types and syntax sugar for

It can be powerful, but it also makes code a lot more complicated and confusing. The focus on fancy type level abstractions is why Haskell is so interesting, but it is also one of the reasons I don't use Haskell in a business environme

Ductaped languages usually exist because they served some specific need, become popular and then evolved from there. PHP is the perfect example. They were not "clean sheet, let's make a great new language" implementations.
