A little marital cronyism! Gotta love it. To be clear, I’m fully in support of the cause. But this is still cronyism.

And it only took damn-near a century after the author’s death for it to expire. Copyright law on both sides of the pond is asinine. The supporters of copyright fear monger and present a parade of horribles that will flow if excessive copyri

I’d sure love to see this. Gaming with a Mac continues to be so disappointing.

Agreed. I’ve used induction and really enjoy it. When my gas stove at my current (new to us) house is done, I will definitely replace with induction. However, gas is just fine and these problems are way overblown.

I love the idea of USB-C everything, but the USB-C port seems much more prone to breakage. I have a graveyard of Nintendo Switch devices with bad USB-C ports. First they start as fickle about charging, then progress, and then eventually sto

I’ve been delighted with my “lifetime” Plex pass, but I worry the day will soon come when I discover the end of the lifetime. Marco Arment has occasionally complained about lifetime, one-time Overcast premium subscriptions and how he’d real

Yeah. For many of the same reasons. Schools want to be able to market “all of our professors are ivy-league grads”

But what credentials? 300 years ago that must-have credential was some stamp from a master tradesman or guild confirming experience and expertise in a trade.

Am a lawyer. Completely agree. For a person who strongly believes in meritocracy, I really picked a stupid career.

This is the real issue. It’s not whether the complaints are real; it’s whether the recipient has some policy that says “X number of complaints and we show you the door.”

Has Apple done other pieces like this? This is the first time I’ve read one of these, and it was quite good! I’d always heard Rich’s name tossed around as a developer’s developers, but learned a lot more about him and his thinking from this

When folks are surveyed about what level of wealth would make them 10/10 happy, without variation, every wealth bracket reports back “double.” It’s a sickness.

This would have such a niche market, but also be so wonderful. I would love to have a physical switch that toggles between, essentially, secure boot and a user-programmable boot.

Might not have made my point clear. It’s not dumb because I actually trusted the TSA to keep my stuff safe. I’m a carry on guy, myself. It was dumb because they thought the key would remain secret only to them, and thus provide an elegant b

This was always a dumb idea. No different than a “master” TSA key. All it does is create a single point of failure.

Can't upvote this submission, and the spirit of the post, enough. These drive me absolutely crazy. The decentralized news/opinion revolution is probably a net positive. But this, specific, behavior related to it, drives me nuts.

Maybe this is IT-specific advice, but I did this (in another field). It did not end well. The students were great. But the administration of the school left a lot to be desired.

I’d say they’re going back to the well. But it seems they’re defecating what was already consumed back into the well, hauling it up, and calling it new. All this for a security “flaw” that isn’t really a flaw. It’s functionality that is con

Same here. Sad thing is that I used to enjoy following politics. Now, I just steer clear entirely. It’s all a farce, both sides. The media needs to stop making Trump relevant so that we all can move on.

My friend, you’re talking to a lawyer who makes his living suing banks for violating consumer rights. Suffice it to say, all of these concerns are very very well Justified.

"Today I couldn’t even tell you the prime time lineup of any network." This observation really hit home, and I'm not sure why, and I'm not sure what the implication is. But you're totally right with the observation.

This further hits home the lack of business acumen of the founders. Let's assume BOM is an order of magnitude off -- 10x what it should be. That doesn't mean fixing the problem would 10x profits. It would merely reduce BOM by 10x.
