Einstein was a rebellious student, but he always received exceptional marks in math and physics in school and on entrance exams. Based on what I've read (mainly the Isaacson biography) I don't think this is true. He may have do

I agree with you on the problem of modern society seeming to be unable to make good collective decisions. I'm not convinced restarting nuclear makes sense today though. Solar seems to be on an economically winning trajectory and build

Yes, and if we had done that 30 years ago when it made sense there would probably be far less concern about global warming today. Today, with the rapid decline in the cost of solar energy, I'm far less convinced this would be a wise mo

This is a very strange article. The first set of activities would usually be considered to belong to the fields of cryptography or information security, not data science per se. The author doesn't distinguish between export controls a

The future of both computer vision and robotics is in machine learning, that is where the state of the art will advance. No autonomous vehicle that isn't integrally dependent on machine learning algorithms will ever hit the market, unl

I took that class several years ago and it was definitely not about machine learning, mostly mapping/localization and route planning. It was a good class but the claim: "Learn how to program all the major systems of a robotic car

Interesting, do you think these ideas will have applications in CS ? I mean type theory is obviously useful, both to things like formal proofs and the definition of typed languages but do you think that thinking of types in terms of topolog

You also need to purchase food, housing and clothes to perform your job but those expenses aren't usually deductible so I would say there's a double standard.

I agree with your point number 2 (except I think you should say NP hard instead of NP since many NP problems have efficient algorithms), in fact I've made it before. While it may be reeasonable to believe that technology will eventuall

I think police body cameras are needed but I don't understand the need to retain all of this data for months or years. These body cams are probably going to pick up a lot of people whether they are involved or not with the police acti

Interesting because there is so much variation in the results and so much of that variation seems counterintuitive. I have a major doubt though that this study may have been severely biased by the manner in which the questions were translat

Very interesting but it seems that to fully explore this and other similar sites they will need to develop underwater robots that are capable of doing underwater what archeologists do on land.

I don't think a business license frees you from personal liability, I think you're talking about incorporation, which is entirely different.

Liability is a separate question though, you're allowed to run a business as a sole proprietor without any license if you want to (irrespective of whether or not that's a good idea).

I've been wondering about that too and I live in the US. I've often seen various places asking for "business licenses" but as far as I know there's no such thing where I live (New York State). There are licenses fo
