There really isn't enough information in this article to conclude that anything ontoward or unexpected happened at all. Maybe it did and that just wasn't well communicated, I don't know. It would be nice if one or both companies published full details of the encounter so that the public could come to a better understanding of what the current capabilities of self-driving cars actually are.
