Well, the comment did say "losing money", but either way, that's not what was claimed in the article and that distinction is exactly what I was pointing out. High margins does not mean that they do well financially, obviously

The post I replied to is claiming that they lose money on each sale of guacamole. (This is clear from bringing up the possibility of raising prices of the optional add on guacamole.) However, this is clearly much stronger claim than merel

That's not what the article claims: > Chipotle, a Mexican-themed restaurant chain, said that “historically high avocado costs” were a big reason why it posted disappointing financial results last year.

They gave out various amounts at different times. Probably got in earlier, and I think there were rewards for doing more with them.

Thanks for this. Now what do I do, though? I'd rather not mess this up. I can log in to launch.stellar.org and can "upgrade" to lumens. Do I do that? My goal is to sell them for USD.

Those p-values aren't very convincing since I don't see any multiple-hypothesis-testing correction. There's probably still a couple that are significant, but you can't test 24 hypotheses and impress anyone with a p<0.

I must not be understanding Meltdown correctly and I know this is a joke, but I thought it was the malicious code that used speculative execution to (indirectly) read unauthorized memory. So in what sense is Branchless Doom secure agains

Yeah, that was my thinking: how is this doing anything other than a PID controller? Glancing at the paper it actually looked like a PD controller, but maybe I missed some feed back where it could accumulate an integral term as well.

I'm currently reading the novel "Schild's Ladder" by Greg Egan. It opens with a similar hypothesis.

I enjoyed this. One suggestion: scopes currently are over-powered in an uninteresting way. One thing that works well for top-down games is to not have the view purely centered on the player, but to have it move in the direction of the mouse

Maybe everyone should be taught about world religions to disabuse us of the notion that astronomy was a force against religion, rather than motivated by religion.

There are difficulties with combustion engines in enclosed areas - namely a lack of oxygen. The ventilation would be a challenge. I see that the longest road tunnel in the world is Lærdal Tunnel which is 15 miles instead of the 20ish for th

How did the void(0) thing work in links? I remember being frustrated by it when I couldn't see where the link would take me, but never understood what was going on.

Yes, that sounds like what I'd like. But where can I find something like that accessible to consumers? Are there roll-your-own methods using AWS or similar that have reasonable costs?

I just want to know one thing: is Dropbox a sufficient backup strategy to prevent this problem? Obviously it's enough to prevent a naive ransomeware. Can they get around Dropbox's automatic 30 day version history by some means? Th

I was taught birth order effects in middle school in the 2000's in the US in a "health" class (in the same unit we also did handwriting analysis). We were literally shown a video of a family in which everyone explained why th

Is that a typo or do you really consider a 1600 kcal/day diet a fast? Wikipedia lists 500-600kcal as usually being allowed on a 5:2 intermittent fast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intermittent_fasting

Your comparison is hugely unfair. The accounting nonsense for universities "paying" themselves for a PhD student's tuition is ridiculous but it's not classified as charity.

Since they describe this as log-in issues, should we expect that to be a server using lots of UDP? Or do you think that the log-in service is hemmed in by the load on the game servers?

I don't think anyone is planning their retirement savings based off a 95% chance of the only being 2 trillion to ever live - even at 10 billion living people you're looking at thousands of years for that prediction to be relevant.
