Sounds nice. Some questions: - I assume you did the tests with direct SQL statements without any ORM? How would an ORM affect the test's performance (with an Node.JS-ORM of your choice, e.g. sequelize)? - How does Node+VoltDB compare to i.e

Great post, thanks! First answer that gave me some motivation to look more into Clojure.

So, 1 and 4 are beneficial for people coming from Java. Could you give more info on 2 and 3 in comparison to node for example? > try translating it to the language you are familiar with. That will be the best estimate of what Clojure is

Thanks, then I'd opt for a comparison to nodejs if you don't mind. EDIT: Sorry that I was unclear, I meant obviously JavaScript, in particular server-side JavaScript, e.g. Node.JS

Thanks for the long post and sharing your experiences. I learned from you that Clojure is appealing for folks coming from Java. I read your conclusions and just got a vague feeling only. Coming from other worlds (like node/js, Haskell, ocam

Couldn't upvote this more. I am fed up with posts telling me email is broken and a new disruptive tech will be the cure. Email is an open protocol, decentralized, providing optional security. Shortcomings—or rather call them additional requ

Awesome port und JS/browser/canvas/webgl tech demo. I think the gameplay is ok for a casual game (kind of doubledragon style and fun) but the overall style, the topic, the enemies, the beard, the story is not on par with the tech

I agree with you about limiting risk. But I believe that 'risk' is a highly relative term. Spending three months on a new idea and investing lets say 3,000 USD on this idea is ... 1. for the average employed office drone a huge risk (at lea

OT but regarding the current native app hype (especially in the mobile space): I still don't like native apps except my browser, my editor, the shell and some legacy software (Office and Adobe CS). I don't like updating 30 apps a week on my

The discussion thread about burnout is full of good advice (change food, exercise a lot, etc.) but the key to end a burnout lies somewhere else: 1. There is always ONE cause for the burnout, removing it removes the burnout instantly—it's us
