I think the biggest hurdle is lack of precision. 200 feet isn't much error in the horizontal realm but is a big deal vertically. There are ways to supplement the precision of GPS altitude with ground-based stations (WAAS), and this is

For others who might have been curious, the last word on the subject appears from Capn. Aux (another semi-famous pilot/writer) who talked to him in late 2012. He said he was alive and well and may be back in the future. Sadly that does

3 cents per mile seems like a pretty high valuation to me. I usually use 1.5 cpm. You can do better, as you mentioned, but this is a good EV for me.

Wow, I didn't realize they had been building in the necessary sensors all along. To just light this up one day for the existing fleet with an OTA update is nothing short of astounding.

Being wired into the entertainment system is what I would be worried about. I'd be pretty surprised if they added a separate fuse for the device. Personally I don't have any qualms about pulling the fuse being against the terms. I

The new devices are actually much different than the clunky old ones you're referring too. I wouldn't be surprised if they were exactly a commodity Android tablet.

I know I can obstruct the camera lens, but does anyone know how to effectively block the microphone on a device like this? Perhaps there is non-destructive way to remove power entirely?

My money is on some kind of trade-in/up program. I wouldn't be shocked if they did nothing though.

Maybe some plan tiers based on number of reservations processed? I can't see myself paying anywhere near $20 each on average though.

The only way I would pay a fixed price without guarantee of savings is if it were pitched as a monthly or yearly subscription, and then I just run all my reservations through it.

I'd be interested to hear their response if you said "I prefer to keep my belongings with me until I can go through with them." In fact, on occasion I've had them insist on me keeping my belongings outside the scanner. I

I always hold my stuff up before it enters the scanner; this serves the dual purpose of making it harder to ignore my request and keeping my bags safer. Usually they'll then ask you to hold your belongings outside the line or put them

My hometown grocery store had an (by the sound of it) almost identical system. No vertical component though. Just a way to get groceries from the check stands to the pickup lane.

I'd like to see some upgrade pricing for owners of previous versions, rather than paying full price every release.

OK, it's apparently adopted then. But it shows no backup history and is trying to re-upload everything. My support case is #2152 if you want to look it up.
