The same goes for hiring built in furniture. I got some quotes for about 8ft of cabinets with some bookshelves (painted, not even nice wood, probably decent ply) and it came in at 10k. I knew it would cost more than buying something from

Yes, in fact I have that as part of my roof, mostly for looks, I guess. It obviously doesn't ever leak, but it did get banged up pretty good and insurance ended up replacing it because of that. Personally, I could get used to just hav

I think I am paying 3500/year now, up from 2800. My house is on the larger side (4 bedrooms), so far, I've had 2 roofs (one on my prior smaller house) in 20+ years. For me it's been 1 roof every 10 years. But I know someon

It would likely be required by mortgage companies because a new roof is 20-30k on the low end. Otherwise the risk of losing their investment is quite high.

I live in Oklahoma. Contrary to popular belief, getting your house destroyed by a tornado is unlikely. But hailstorms are on the rise and roof replacements are becoming more frequent because of them. Insurance has gone up A LOT for every

Standing next to a building doesn't sound as good, marketing. Stuff like this actually makes me really sad because people should not really be this gullible.

I often do dishes or laundry during longer calls. I find it easier to follow the topic when I do this over when I'm on a call AND a computer where I quickly end up working on code and ignoring the call.

Me too. I honestly didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. I much preferred it to the open office I ended up in for 15 years. I had some bookshelves, a whiteboard, some semblance of silence.

Thanks this is a nice way of saying what the other poster said :) I agree, ESG is just a bunch of numbers but if we can't agree on what the right output is then it's political in nature. I wonder if society has a bigger issue with

ESG is tricky to talk about thanks to the politization of it. I work on some projects that involve ESG data and I have some thoughts. First there's LOTS of factors. If you bunch them all up into one number, it becomes meaningless as

I recently took a roadtrip about 1500 miles to visit some family. On the way to/back we wanted to stop and check out some cities the kids wanted to visit and it's amazing the anxiety I had every time we drove into a large urban a

This is exactly what I have been thinking since 2016. If Aliens/UFOs are real, we will hear about it soon. However, if it's true that parts of the government are secret from the president, even the last one, then that is a real p

I have been truck shopping lately which means I'm constantly hounded all day long by every dealership in the 4 state region. Last weekend they ALL had "Memorial Day Sales"! So I asked them all about the sale details... Ever

I agree with you, not sure why they included that use case in the demo. It would have been better done if the dad recorded the 3d video with iPhone depth sensors (possible?) and replayed it later in VR. I really like my Quest 2. But these d

I felt old the other day when I was telling my son that when I was a kid, if it was blue and underlined, you can click it! Now everything is polished and fancy and you never know what you can click on anymore. Something beautiful and util
