Diet is 85% of where results come from…..for muscle and fat loss. Many don’t focus here enough. I'm blown away by friends and acquaintances who put so much effort into exercise and are unwilling to change their diet. Cutting out sugar an

This isn't so much an alternative to Helvetica as an improvement upon it, but I mention it here because some of you may like to see it. Haas Unica: the lost successor to Helvetica, no longer available because of licensing issues, but subtly

Helvetica's line-height is different (or is otherwise rendered differently, vertically-speaking), so I select Arial first to keep the look consistent.

Silk is a fantastic set. Been using it for years and haven't found anything more versatile. Also recently came across the excellent (CC-licensed) Fugue set. http://p.yusukekamiyamane.com/

That's what I thought too, but I saw the ordering system both times (before manipulation, immediately after boot-up) and the annual price was higher the first time and $199 the second time.

I upvoted it (after reading) because I like periodic reminders that sexy web apps aren't the only way.

Tell me exactly what your product does in the tagline. Make this sentence shorter and sweeter and put it center stage. LeadNuke is a streamlined process that helps you find, track, and follow-through with news articles, blog posts, and RSS

This is not a lesson, though it could have served as one had it been written differently. This is a petty response whose potential value is completely obscured by the author's self-importance and condescension.

If you can detect ad blockers, why are you whining? Direct them to an alternative flow/business model that works.

Just switched from lighttpd a couple weeks ago. I've been convinced for a while now, but it's still nice to come here and see glowing reviews from Engine Yard and justin.tv. Wrote a bit about my recreational CentOS install: http://todd.is

For a few apps, I've used census data to derive city and state from zip code. It seemed like a disruptive flow to me too, until I asked for zip without showing any other address fields. On change, the address and prepopulated city and stat

I would say, "MySpace hiring paradox: we want reasonable people, but reasonable people wouldn't apply," but there are lots of people out there. Some like to help innovate, some like to help catch up -- and there's a lot of catching up to d

Recently experienced this with 24 Hour Fitness in SF. Visited the location to sign up for the $199/yr my buddy paid. "That promotion [wasn't] currently running," but I got a call two days later saying that it was back on. It's a shame to d

Seconded. The description that sold me compared reading Borges to having the top of your skull removed and a cool breeze caressing your cerebral cortex. Quite apt, actually.

Far from gorgeous in FF 3.6 Win. A few quick ones: 1. Use (or make better use of) a grid layout. 2. Vary the type less. I count 3 fonts (excluding Firebug logo type) in too many sizes. 3. The 6 feature/functions (inspect, log, etc.) aren'

Great comments on value and scarcity in social interactions. Being conscious of this has made me more successful too. The notion of value offering is very different from value taking. Value offering coincides with abundance mentality; val

The delicate graphs over low-contrast, well-shot photos are so beautifully subtle. And the typographer in me loves the equally understated equation captions. http://www.flickr.com/photos/nikkigraziano

Increasing the tracking (letter-spacing in CSS) of body text i.e. choosing a design gimmick over legibility really aggravates me. Inside Facebook does this too.

The last line was petty. No need to sully a well-written response like that... offering to answer any further questions instead would leave me much more impressed.
