Here, I'll accomplish the same thing for you: You give me $1, and I'll give you $0.60 back, plus some advice. Here's the advice: You're a sucker. You'd be better off playing Powerball, at least when the jackpot is over $200M or so.

Wait... I thought that cycling was the new golf in Silicon Valley. Something about how it's easier for good cyclists to accommodate not-so-good cyclists than it is for good golfers to not completely upstage bad golfers. Cycling is great fo

I'm a fan of ManicTime on Windows. It does a great job of tracking how much time each app is active (i.e., has focus). I have rules set up so that it aggregates the time I spend with things like a terminal or IDE open as "work" time and t

I think it really is unlimited. For my Droid, I have the "email and web for smartphone" plan ($30). I also have a separate wireless broadband card and plan ($60). When I look at my account on Verizon's web site, I see a data cap of "5GB"

Neat. Kind of reminds me of Stellarium, a free open-source digital planetarium ( http://www.stellarium.org/ ). Great way to spend a few hours zooming in and out on all of the various stars in the heavens.

In case anybody is curious about how this is actually accomplished, do a web search for "diamond roller dresser." Also, there's a huuuuge thread about "flat-bottom V" skate sharpening over at Mod Squad Hockey (a popular hockey-player forum)

+1 for going up to Skyline. Make a stop at Windy Hill, make the short hike up to the top of said hill, and you'll be rewarded with amazing views. On a clear day, you can see from San Francisco to San Jose, from the Diablo Range to the Pac

Might have to take you up on that! I sailed 420s a bit back in California, but I haven't made it happen yet here in Minneapolis. Seeing the numerous sailboats on Calhoun and Minnetonka always brings a smile to my face. Which co-op are you

Medtronic made some nuclear-powered implantable pacemakers in the 1970s. Supposedly, they worked fine, but adoption was hindered by the word "nuclear." My biggest concern is disposal. I don't like the idea of millions of these things endi
