It was also hugely influential to me. I think seeing what is possible with extreme achievements like this can really be motivating. It's probably what spurred me to learn C and assembly during high school.

Maybe something like an extension of robots.txt. E.g. if your don't allow crawling then the data is not public. I think that's fair, after all if you want complete strangers to be able to search for it arguably you are asking for

This is a non-story. Look at the actual changes. Nothing fundamentally new was added, but the language was broadened slightly in a completely unsurprising way. Language model -> AI model features -> product and features It just looks

The other unique aspect of government is that you can remove power by voting them out in the next election. In contrast, a private monopoly can continue to use it's influence, money, and power, without recourse forever.

Personally I'd be happy to see the ad driven model die. It used to be that people bought newspapers or didn't read them. They still had some ads, granted, but far less intrusive than today's web ads with their colours and ani

Every company tries to earn money, that's not a problem. The problem is when a company tries to legislate themselves to be owed money, or eliminate competition via various means, that it becomes a problem. Companies should earn my by b

The more relevant claim is that they don't observe a difference in learning rust vs learning other languages. There is always a learning cost when adopting a new language that few people always know. This sort of surprised me, because

I very much disagree that you can't specify license terms on spam. Lawyers certainly seem to think you can, as they always have a huge legal blob at the bottom of their emails about what you can or can't do with their email.

That seems like a stretch. I mean if someone just put some source code in your mailbox you don't suddenly get the rights to use it however you want right?

This is rather limited thinking though. The value of the platform is ultimately in it's content, and if those 3% of users on 3rd party apps are highly influential in driving content, then by driving them away you will harm overall valu

This is grossly reductive. There is a huge spectrum of quality in content. Most of what you describe, formal studies by experts, is on a much much higher tier than the 99% of content most people read. Comparing informed formal studies to th

You’re asserting users are selfish. I don’t know what you think you are saying, but in a business the customers can demand whatever they want and leave if they are not happy. That does not make them selfish. That’s business.
