So much for beta-testing your extension prior to release. It's already hard to get users involved, now they just can't. Or using any other channel to get your extension. !Thanks Mozilla, really.

On a small data center we have, running 6 V40z servers with 64gb of memory each, in a controlled environment at 25c, we register roughly one parity event a month per-system. And that's ~6-7 years old memory, which is less dense than

Downvoters probably don't understand that in EU blogspot (and any google website, and most other popular websites) show a big fat warning that obstructs 10% of the screen, telling the user about the fact that the website uses cookies,

Is 'looooooooooove' ironic? I've used p4 for several years, and even though I now basically only use git, I still think it's one of the best thought-of and implemented SCM systems out there [disclaimer: never used bitkee

Can I also say fuck you to the EU cookie law, every fucking website that enables the warning? And a bigger FUCK YOU for still showing the warning, even if the "do not track" headers are sent?

Cannot upvote enough. At this density, and considering caches will have persistence of days (if not more) in the main memory, random errors become a major issue. ECC should have became a standard in system memory 5 years ago already.

Precisely. I actually don't see the point in asking the user unless regular events _also_ get disabled.

USENET, was in my opinion, one of the best features/protocol of the initial internet. I loved USENET ever since I discovered it (91/92) and I still use today a news reader through gmane, looking down at forums (just like this one)

Byzanz uses the gstreamer framework, which is massive. It does a video capture which is encoded on the fly to gif (or other formats). But I upvoted you anyway, because byzanz IMHO is the easiest/fastest screen recorder to use for this

Nice trick, aesthetically, but horrible for anything else. Drawing stutters on both FF 39 and Chrome on an i5 system. Breaks the scroll wheel (I had to use page up/down or the scroll bar). Basically impossible to navigate accurately to

Wouldn't capsicum then allow to effectively implement different user models than root/user? Where the login process would be responsible to just drop capabilities after switching the uid?

I'm surprised NoScript actually contains a whitelist, I didn't expect it to. I personally switched to Policeman ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/policeman/ ) a while ago, and ther

In linux cgroups and namespaces effectively are a better model. I wonder if internally posix capabilities could just be re-implemented over cgroups instead.

Sure it's possible, however the only way to do it afterwards is to delete the repository and fork it manually again. Deleting the repository is only fine if there are no issue/wiki/data associated with it. The main problem is

Also, of note, is that currently if you "fork" using git and push it into a github repository, there's no way to re-attach/hint github about the original ancestor. The problem is compounded by the fact that doing anythi

I think that the main issue is that debuggers are often dismissed in terms of importance, and many don't see the true value of debugging beyond simple step-by-step execution. This is not unique to Go: python's several debuggers re

A debugger that cannot be attached to a living process, that cannot change or execute data dynamically, is not a debugger. Unfortunately, many languages provide "debuggers" that fall into that category.

Blackboards are better, but the argument about superior chalk is pretty dumb. I had/used everything from blackboards to digital whiteboards. I still like blackboards better, but it's only going to last as long as digital displays

Just to pick an obvious, big one: there is no choice besides pants. More subtle? try lace, but without giving a sexual orientation connotation to it. Color choices seem to be more neutral now, but only for older segment of the population. U
