You're talking smartphone displays? You certainly don't need anywhere close to 300ppi on a computer monitor to have crisp fonts.

I wonder if anyone's experimented with a robotic arm and camera approach. That's certainly where my mind goes if trying to design a pinsetter from scratch. I would think something like that could be close to traditional pinsetters

You can look at it either way. "Phase" literally means the offset of the waveforms. With 3-phase, each of the phases is 120° out of sync. With split phase, you can look at it as a single, 240V phase with neutral in the middle, all

I think the idea is that so far, and for now, the chargers have indeed helped them keep a significant lead in EV sales. Eventually though, many other companies will also be selling very good EVs, and if Tesla doesn't open their charger

There's research showing that extended exposure to (extremely bright) sunlight can damage the eyes. There's no research I'm aware of showing that blue spectrum light from, eg., a computer or cellphone screen, which is what pe

The feature actually sounds amazing if you had to commute in heavy traffic every day. I wouldn't trust a fully autonomous system at highway speed yet, but under 40mph in a traffic jam, and I can read a book? Sign me up.

Parts of this seem almost scientific, but when you get to things like catastrophic meltdowns of nuclear facilities, it's just absurd. Even if you accept that global warming will lead to the extinction of humanity, it won't happen

Elon Musk predicts a lot of things. Full self driving, hyperloops, under-city tunnel networks for traffic, multiple Starship launches per day... Anyway, even within the realm of engineered solutions, I expect there are options more practica

Yeah, I recall some of the various levels of heaven stuff. But it's more the second part that gets me. Most people who reject this belief system in life do so because there's no solid evidence to support it. But if they've di

Just out of curiosity, assuming someone is sitting in literal Purgatory and is presented with this choice, can you imagine any conceivable reason why they would reject it? I have zero belief in any of this myself, but if I died and was pro

Yeah, it didn't affect the drive train, and it was also quite quick - less than a minute between when the screen went dark and when it had finished rebooting and sent notifications that an update had been installed. So presumably just

Amusingly the infotainment system in our Model Y actually crashed on the way home tonight, and when it rebooted it decided to install the update then, while driving. Sent me a notification on my phone immediately afterwards. To be fair, the

Better to keep 5c and 25c rather than 10c and 25c imo, if you're keeping two. 10 is fairly redundant when you have 5 and 25. (Even more so with 5 and 20, as with bills.)

What's particularly frustrating, and I think relevant here, is when new things are better in some respects, but glaringly worse in others. So you can only have the good parts of the new thing if you accept the shit along with it.
