Yeah, I think Python 2 has been successfully killed at this point. There are a decent number of projects which still need to migrate (and I recently became responsible for a couple) but it’s been a long time since I heard anyone claim they

> the vacuum we know is meta-stable It's not fully known if this is the case or not. If the standard model is accurate (which is a big if) then it's probably metastable but there is some still room for debate. See page 52 of h

It's already here...I saw an issue a few weeks ago a bunch of production systems failed upon seeing a certificate signed by a CA root that expires after 2038.

One of the issues with Python 3 is that there isn’t really one killer feature, it’s countless little ones. Many believe 3.6 was the first release where they added up to enough of a benefit (though f-strings are a big help for many projects)

I just read both parts without even noticing but you’re right it does. I guess you have a different device/screen size as the position and scale is correct for me. It’s a bug in blogspot itself so far as I can tell.

My sister works in childcare and this is definitely in the case though it doesn't work how many parents want. It often results in perfect trained toddlers but only between the hours of 7am-6pm.

You just roll back that one service and every other service picks up the change automatically. Doing the same thing with shared libraries requires redeploying everything that is dependent on the bad library (i.e. hundreds of containers inst

This is where conda excels because it uses its own toolchain and therefore doesn’t need to make any assumptions about the system. Someone needs to have packaged it, ideally using conda-forge, but it should then just work. Pip installing all

I don’t know if this has changed but a couple of years ago you just had to try and build bazel from source which was extremely painful.

> if an algorithm is a good candidate to run on, say, a Spark cluster, a quantum computer would be much better at it. This is not true. Some parallelizable tasks will benefit from massive speed ups but most won't.

Having worked in other fields, I think the difference is that our work is often limited by us. We can always do something more or feel like we should have been faster. In most other areas the work either runs out or is limited by external f

The issue with ASIC mining is the the barrier to entry is extremely high so only a small number of people have the means to produce the chips. Economically it might not make sense to sell them and, to make the situation even worse, patents
