If there is one company I hope gets the spotlight in this debate it is Plaid. I think there are among the least transparent when it comes to what data they collect, have zero way of auditing/ensuring compliance among devs, and arguably

I don’t think so, but isn’t the entire Cambridge Analytica debacle an issue of using Facebook data to target political ads to users based on demographic information?

The point is he’s buying a ton of ads that purposefully cross Facebook’s own policy on political ad spend to force them to either take action so he can claim victim status or keep them up and look like hypocrites.

I was reading an interesting Twitter thread on why Trump is spending insane amounts on ads on FB right now (roughly $500k a week!) with many purposefully breaking Facebook’s own guidelines on what’s acceptable. Basically the person was sayi

Did anyone else find it ironic there’s a scene in the Netflix AOC documentary where she’s crowded around a computer with her boyfriend scrolling through Google Ad spend targeting specific demographics and age groups?

I’ve worked at the stereotypical big SF tech co and agree not everyone can thrive at that kind of place...including me. I can’t drink the koolaid and I don’t like feeling like I have to fake excitement to fit in.

My wording is confusing. I’m aware these are tracked.

They are tracked but aren’t a “first class” statistic like GDP is as far as measuring the “health” of a nation is concerned.

I wish we tracked suicide rates and drug ODs as a nation like we track GDP.

There is so much wasted/poorly optimized land in SF. I cringe whenever I see the massive surface level Safeway parking lot in Duboce/Church.

I would love an all you can ride monthly subscription. I know Uber/Lyft have done limited trials but nothing truly an unlimited subscription.

I never thought it made sense that people should expect to do nothing for 30+ years of their life. For most the anxiety of boxing yourself into that belief that after a certain day of your life that you can’t earn another dime makes no sens

And if the market crashes when you are retired? What are you supposed to do? I don’t think it’s sound advice to keep your retirement in stocks when you’re actually in retirement...

If you retire at 65 and live to 100, you’re supposed to live on $20k a year pre-tax (assuming you’re withdrawing from a pre-tax account like a 401k)? That isn’t going to work.

I’m in a well known bootcamp in SF right now (after flirting with idea for a few years and finally making the timing work). Having hit the half way point, I would say the day-to-day format has been very conducive to learning, at least for m
