> very little difference between one distro an another These days the differences come down to systemd or no systemd. I joke that we should refer to it all as SystemD/Linux (akin to how "GNU/Linux" was used).

This site is an "old internet" gem and I hope it never changes. I saw Earth and Fire (the creators of the project) speak at the Psychedelic Science conference a few years ago, quite a treat! Genuinely great people oozing integrity

Late reply but this gave me a chuckle as a (I guess old) unix guy. Sun had automount in the late 80s and afaik it/autofs/auto.master stuff is largely unchanged (in usage, maybe not in implementation).

I haven't kept up with spinning rust drives so I had to take a look. Seagate has a couple 30 tb models now, crazy. Lot of eggs in one basket...and through the same ol 6gbit sata interface these must be a nightmare to format or otherwis

Ah my bad, I never looked much into it I guess (haven't used a full DE in years). Apparently neon is built on Ubuntu and KDE Linux is a new immutable-based thing. (They don't list it at https://kde.org/distribution

Thanks for a little context, this is not my wheelhouse at all (never even heard of this project) and I could not make heads or tails of the title or the linked PR.

I do suspect "visions" can come from different sources as well. I've worked at an ayahuasca retreat center and have drank about 500 times so had some opportunities to investigate this. My vision is typically very "closed

My favorite supermicro facepalm will always be when you could set the IPMI encryption cipher to "none" (ipmitool -C0) and bypass actually needing any password at all. (Though I don't think this was unique to supermicro actual

Very cool, we had a couple of these (along with a couple HP-UX and SGI boxes, amongst a sea of Sun workstations) at my first gig as a Unix administrator. It was such a treat to see the diversity of the proprietary *nix world when Linux was

Unix systems are inherently very multi-user (check how many lines are in your /etc/passwd!). Other login users would just need to log into via other means (ssh/etc..).*

Right...you still need a regular login user (and probably a good idea to have a password set)...also for things like sudo. But that facet wasn't one that actually concerned me with this setup
