I guess a Buddhist point of view would be that any emotion/feeling should not be held on to. (It is best to feel and let all things pass, I think, but to consider it a disorder to "hold on" to happiness doesn't seem righ

Am I reading it right that this is just about the installer not being ported? I guess I'm old but I feel like packaging is a long-solved problem. Bizarre...

Some linux distros (e.g. fedora) don't include hw decoding for licensing reasons. I decided I wanted all the latest goodies at some point and ended up duct taping together a copr repo with mesa/ffmpeg/mpv (latest from git) wi

Maybe a bit clunky but there exist some very good and tiny DACs/dongles now (and have seen a couple creative cases/riggings that present the jack in a good/manageable way)

Re: noise canceling... recently got a pair of IEMs (Etymotic ER2XR) with good foam tips and their isolation blows away any ANC I've ever tried. The only thing is noise from touching the cable but that was solved with some ear hooks to

One of my current favorite websites is http://tv.garden that fills this void for me. It's like having the inter dimensional cable box from Rick and Morty.

The US lost 3 of its own fighter jets yesterday due to friendly fire[0], is it out of the realm of possibility? [0] https://newrepublic.com/post/207197/us-shoots-three-fighter-...

I'm usually in linux on my (2019?) mbp but have had to use macos for some stuff lately (so I'm not exactly tuned in to it and using it hard all day), but I don't see what the problem is tbh and haven't run into anything

A great old-internet relic (30+ years), felt it would be of interest to this crowd (especially with the new "installment" being released in a few days).

I don't understand all the hooplah about gpu-accelerated terminals either really. If your x/compositor(/framebuffer?) is using the correct drivers, isn't it already accelerated? (I've never really used "pretty&

Having done a bit of ayahuasca, as well as plant dietas (Shipibo tradition) that involve some pretty serious restrictions and isolation for long periods of time in the jungle, I can say that it (even without the ayahuasca) is a really condu

Even funnier is that often 0.25mg or 0.5mg is closer to the correct dose, and those sizes tend to be hard to find. There actually is a condition that calls for extremely high (100mg+ doses), but it is a very rare thing, no one should ever

I really like the metaphor of consciousness as a drop separated from the ocean during bodily life and returning to it (merging with it) after death. (This is what my strongest bufo/5-meo-dmt experiences showed me, but I guess one can&#

Usually when people just say DMT they mean nn-DMT (which is a lot more visual/weird and can bring on the "elves" at breakthrough dosage). 5-meo-dmt(/bufo) is much more of a felt thing, but can definitely have some visual

If we were smart we'd use AI to grok a system in order to help us reduce its complexity. I don't think we're anywhere close to even being able to provide all the necessary context to solve problems like this.
