What do you recommend as a good alternative for people who can't afford therapy?

Well to be fair I don’t think you have to become a camper van / mountain person after quitting a job. For example I am living in the same place/city after leaving the workforce a couple years ago and am personally still a lot happ

Wow, we actually have very similar trajectories. Except I'm still at the point of doing part-time work + coding side-projects/startups on the side. I agree that the too much freedom can be disorienting. If you don't mind me a

So if they care about data harvesting, are they also blocking Facebook?

Some version of this question pops up every month or so, and I personally don't get the sense that people/society views this as a collective problem, but rather a problem for individual men to figure out on their own.

Yeah I don't think you can defend against a gunpoint threat, but my guess that's much less common than a casual petty thief who just snatches your phone out of your hand and runs.

So you tried doing what the OP did and ended up going back to your job? Would love to hear more if you don't mind expanding.

There are plenty of $200k SWE jobs available (largely but not exclusively at FAANG), I don't think you need to wait for other people to leave.

I do wonder how you guard against the threat of you walking down the street staring at your phone and having someone snatch it out of your hand while it's still unlocked. A saavy thief could then disable the auto-sleep and as long as i

Yeah it was definitely cool when it was working, but having it not work 1 out of every 10 times was getting frustrating. I ended up returning it. The Apple Watch for me was always a nice-to-have, not a must-have, so returning it was an easy

I echo this - I bought an apple watch but ended up returning it because it was so hard to reliably do basic tasks like connecting your AirPods and listening to a podcast. It would work fine ~80% of the time but sometimes it just wouldn'

I was fortunate enough to have a windfall a couple years ago and haven't had a full-time job since. It's a bit weird to just wake up and have nothing planned while all your friends at work, but over time you find hobbies/acti

What do you like about SurfingKeys over Vimium? At a quick glance, seems to have many of the same commands, maybe SurfingKeys just has a few more.

For hobby/side projects, I don't mind paying $5-10/mo for useful services, but ngrok's floor of $25/mo was too steep for me. Instead I now use Cloudflare Tunnel which is free (even for HTTPS). https://dev

Do you have a link to the book? Googling "Jim Carleton apple book" doesn't turn up anything (although your comment is already now ranked #3 for that search query!)

It's interesting that we're at a point in society (or maybe capitalism) where people working less and sleeping more is being played as a bad thing.

That’s because apple hasn’t introduced any major new features to the ipad pro hardware since then. A 4 year old iphone is also just as future-proof but it doesn’t feel like that since they’ve added many new features to later models.

As an avid note-taker, I don't think any of this is un-true. I'll just say for myself I do it because I find note-taking genuinely enjoyable and meditative. I agree that if you're trying to optimize the professional "ROI
