I'm probably biased by the fact that the first time I got Synapse running it was the release where it'd endlessly try and fail to join a room with more than 10 people. But, every time I've looked at Matrix Chat it's been

Citations needed. Counterpoints for each: Heads don't suffer wear when parking. The armature does. If the platters are not spinning fast enough, or the air density is too low: the heads will crash into the sides of the platters. The ma

No, DNA is terrible. Microsoft's Project Silica seems to be the contender for indefinite, maintenance free, storage. But, there's the whole "It's Glass" issue.

AWS does regular integrity checks on all media, and repairs any errors it finds. This includes Glacier and Deep Glacier. (It's in the first few bits of the S3 docs) Backblaze B2 is untrustworthy. I specified a bad encryption key- and i

FPGA based console emulation? There's been affordable (sub $200) and quite capable boards for ages: Arty T35 is $100-150 depending, and theres T100 models for more. although I'd check if a Zynq board is available. And, vivado is f

I'm not sure where you're coming from here. "Everything is a file" is literally part of the design philosophy. Thats all it is: design philosophy. Well, besides improper string termination being the root of a staggering

They're not even superficially better- a lot of them are worse. And, at least when they called it electroshock everybody knew it was Russian roulette with the prize being a vegetable.

Some (most?) motherboards now have a way to reflash a bios in "no POST" scenarios. There's either a dedicated microcontroller or it reuses the embedded controller to read a BIOS image from a USB mass storage device. It works

On the 5950x, try disabling C states (not P, C; the ones where it 'sleeps' CPU cores). And verify they're disabled within the OS. It took most of a year to nail that one down. AMD didn't ask for anything besides proof of

Did you know, theres a GitHub repo called [you-poor-bastard]( https://github.com/SirkleZero/you-poor-bastard )? It converts a vss repo to git (not very well, but well enough), ignoring the VSS "passwords."

Looked at the first paper. I have significant concerns that, frankly, I didn't finish reading. 1. Small sample size, <20 iirc. 2. No control group at all. (There should have been a group under the same requirements and same diet) 3.
