But still, stolen credit cards == compromised bitcoin private keys right?

So, I'm a little confused. Why is it so hard to do this with paypal / credit cards and so easy with bitcoins? What sort of fraud do credit card companies have to deal with that bitcoin does not?

I believe the receiver needs to approve a transaction before the transfer happens. Atleast that's how reddittip works.

Code search never made sense I think. You could argue stackoverflow / github were the replacements.

Very interesting .. I think Facebook Timeline solves this problem to a certain extent (hiding posts that the algorithm deems as unimportant rather than deleting them). I wonder how you could apply this to twitter. Most tweets don't really g

So, I've been working on / off on the app for the last four months and finally managed to get it in the App Store. Would appreciate any feedback on the app, bugs, feature requests and the like. Thanks! Teja

Their "Close friends" algorithm does a pretty good job already. And even if it doesn't I'm sure most people have already removed / added friends as appropriate from that circle. Facebook also has a bunch of data on how often you've interact

I hope you're right. I think so too and I'm building a native check-in experience for Facebook as a side-project. It's almost ready to be launched, but I haven't managed to convince anyone I talked to that they needed a separate native app

Honest question: Why would you need newer tests? Isn't your genetic code fixed along with all the risks it implies?

This might be the way we're going even if people don't want to share their genetic profile with their insurance company.. what if 23AndMe and UHC (insurance co.) get into a deal where they provide this service for free? And what if UHC rais

Honestly, there's a lot of potential for a great story within that theme. The video was entertaining even if the reference to plato was a little cliched. I'm backing it.

Brain uploads living in simulated universes are I think are our surest bet at immortality. @cstross has a highly entertaining book called Accelerando which deals with this. Check it out if you haven't yet already. If you push is a bit, you

Unless you're a consulting, I don't think it's really possible as a programmer to take 3 months off every year. If I could, I would though.

This is brilliant. Thanks so much for doing an API! As much as I like web apps, I'd hate to keep a tab open for the entire day in my browser. I'll go build a simple native mac app that sits in the toolbar and plays music.

Can you elaborate on why it's idiotic? As much as computer programmers like to think they're precious snow flakes to whom productivity tips don't apply to, this sort of system works for fitness, sales and from PGs post, sculptors.
