Love the idea. You might want to consider adding a profanity filter. joder -> to fuck just popped up for me, and if I put this on my work computer, which I would like to, I'd have to turn it off before screen sharing.

He was probably talking about the story. In the book, Wendy is supposed to be strong, not one to be pushed around. In the movie, it's the total opposite.

Most of what you hear about that are exaggerations and rumors, mostly based on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o-n6vZvqjQ . People cite lines like "don't sympathize with Shelly" to jump to the conc

Is this a rebrand? I don’t remember it being called a “cloud computer”. (Or why else is this on HN?)

They work fine for basic tasks. The other day I wanted to make a basic spreadsheet. I said why not and picked Numbers. Works fine for what I needed.

I enjoyed the article and learned something. But I've been wondering: When people say "rewrite in a memory-safe language", what languages are they suggesting? Is this author rewriting parts in Go, Java, C#? Or is it just a sm

There’s a high quality, free comic reader app that doesn’t collect any data that implements this feature quite nicely: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/smart-comic-reader/id151117521...

Fantastic comment. This is the best answer to "What is good code?" that I've ever seen. Nicely succinct too.

Just because you buy an Apple product out of desire (perhaps without even knowing the full feature set) does not mean you are buying it for social display. That is one of numerous possible reasons.

One reason to choose one over the other is the dependencies they’re bundled with. Take numpy. With PyPI, it’s bundled with OpenBLAS, and with conda, it’s bundled with Intel MKL, which can be faster. See https://numpy.org/ins

Correlation is not causation. What if changes that are inherently more complex — which take longer to review, are more likely to have bugs, etc — typically require 250 lines or more?

The thing is that writing a good commit message for future people doing `git blame` is only worth it if it's a line of code which someone in the future will look at and need to know why it was changed from its previous form to t

I try to write useful commit messages. Sometimes they're as expansive as this example, but not always. On GitHub, at least the way my team uses it, the PR is the more visible unit of code change. If you have a single-commit PR, GitHub
