There are a good number of people who sell pre-builts for reasonable prices (e.g. https://bastardkb.com/ ), but these are often one-person endeavors, and with part shortages, they've been out of stock a lot recently.

Indeed, as we saw in the recent-ish fact checking failure by the New Yorker about the "rent-a-family" business in Japan: https://newrepublic.com/article/160595/new-yorker-japan-rent... From the article:

Multiple premoves is not really a pro for chess.com. Premoves function differently on the two websites. On chess.com, each premove takes 0.1 seconds from your clock when it executes, while on Lichess, they do not take any time at all. Given

Yeah, I had a scare about plastic in the tea bags a while ago, as I tend to drink 1 or 2 cups of tea a day from tea bags. I found this brand, Clipper [0], that makes a plastic-free tea bag. Shipping from the UK takes a while, but the tea is

They added a similar animation to the weather app in iOS 15. When it rains, it looks as if it’s falling on one of the UI elements: https://9to5mac.com/2021/09/24/ios-15-weather-app-hands-on/a...

Anyone know if it’s possible to run shaders in VLC like you can with mpv? e.g. https://github.com/igv/FSRCNN-TensorFlow/releases

IINA is basically a front-end for mpv. I use it. It's got nice features like force-touch support, but in my experience it's a memory hog—way worse than base mpv somehow.

Sure, but that's mainly because the WCC is such a high-stakes match. Their overall record is not so draw-dominated. According to [0], Classical games: Ian Nepomniachtchi beat Magnus Carlsen 4 to 2, with 14 draws. which gives a d

It's a bit of an exaggeration to say "almost all" games at the highest level end in draws. I wouldn't have said that from my personal experience following top-level chess, and the data indeed indicates it's under 75

I’d guess that most people don’t use keyboard shortcuts at all, and only very few use anything besides copy, paste, and maybe save. People are shocked when I “command+l, c, t, v, enter” to duplicate the current tab.

Dumb question here: Can you get more performance from the same number of cores by giving them more power?

Have at look at Subaru's from like ~2014 or older. IIRC, the safety and reliability are quite good, and I believe they're pretty barebones as far as digitalization goes.

I don't know how to frame this in economic terms, but here's an observation. It's no easier buying a GPU from a scalper on eBay than it is buying that GPU from Bestbuy. In fact, it's probably harder. So, they seem to be

A 40% false collision probability would give an overall false flag probability of 1/trillion only if you had exactly 30 photos in your library, and thus all 30 had to be false collisions. The calculation gets a little more complicated
