I always enjoy rereading the review Roger Ebert wrote when he added Spirited Away to his Great Movies list [1]. He touches on a similar point, about how the movie all feels like a gift: >The story of "Spirited Away" has been po

I use Wipr on ios (and ublock origin everywhere else) and it works like 99% as well. Costs 2 bucks I think. Have you tried that?

I meant my post more for people who already had a smartwatch, I think. That being said, I prefer the smartwatch experience. Otherwise you have to keep your phone either in your eyesight to see a notification, or you have to have it in your

OP mentions they’re not a fan of smart watches, but in case you don’t mind wearing one, you can get a pretty good setup with one. I have an Apple Watch and use the Repeat Timer app (pro version) [0], which lets me create a timer that goes o

Yes, yes. I also would consider myself highly aware of my phone, and I have called back spam callers I don't know how many times from both the "Recents" tab and the notification screen. I'm generally impressed with the u

Not that you explicitly said otherwise, but I just want to point out that Grave of the Fireflies was written and directed by Isao Takahata (RIP), who was a co-founder of Studio Ghibli and frequent collaborator with Miyazaki.

Apparently it's from an "interview by Charlie Kohler in The East Village Eye, 1968, a few days after 2001: A Space Odyssey opened". I saw it here https://www2.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/sight-sound-magazine&

I recall something Stanley Kubrick said about Bambi being traumatizing: I saw Mary Poppins three times, because of my children, and I like Julie Andrews so much that I enjoyed seeing it three times. I thought it was a charming film. I

One little trick I use is to turn the tracking speed all the way down in System Preferences, and then set it as high as I need in the Logitech settings. This makes the acceleration pretty unnoticeable for me. Also could use something like t

Yeah, at least it’s all working via Rosetta. When I first got my 13in MBP when it came out, I couldn’t get it to compile at all. The editor runs pretty well actually. I did an unreal 5 build, and it was a bit laggy, but if you turn off Lume

I may be wrong, but I think that is talking about creating games that run on Apple Silicon, not building the editor/engine itself for Apple Silicon (i.e. the dev setup). Regarding the XCode GPU plugin, that is cool; didn't see tha

The main thing I take issue with in your comment is the criticism of "Making the world a better place". What exactly is wrong with that? Nothing, I say. Maybe you're thinking of those who have co-opted that phrase to do bad,
